5. They are not "news" anymore

I used to like CNN's Headline News because although often repetitive, it was "news". Updated each half hour. Of course that station's format was morphed into the fluff "HLN".

These stations spend more time filling airtime with crap and babbling talking heads that promote propaganda and chase ratings. Their few long form investigative segments are often about "little people", not the big players. They refuse to do any fact-checking or research and the anchors insist on hogging the screen rather than step back and let a speech or press conference play without their big heads blabbing over what someone important is saying.

It seems they should go to a different model where they can come on the air when there is "breaking news", cover it to some conclusion, and then just go off the air.

Anyone over a certain age remembers when TV went off the air some time after midnight (with some stations maybe running until 2 am with a "late late show" or "late late movie" and then BAM! National anthem, test pattern, and then snow. Some rural stations were literally dusk to dawn - on at 6 am and off the air at 6 pm.

Time to go back to the dawn to dusk stations. nt BumRushDaShow Sep 2016 #1
