Governor Soprano was all set to have his chief of staff nominated as state attorney general, and the state legislature's subpoena power runs out next Tuesday. That would have shut down any investigation indeed -- which is precisely why I believe he masterminded this down to the last detail. His only miscalculation was getting the Port Authority of New York AND New Jersey involved, which opens Bridge(t)-Gate to Federal investigation.

He may be too stubborn to resign, and he could survive a recall vote. But based on whether you believe him or not, either his managerial skills or his integrity have been breached. That's why I believe that Christie's presidential aspirations, if nothing else, now sleep with the fishes.
