First, men and women do think much alike, I think it's when relationships get intimate-- no matter what the gender, that differences become apparent, second women, like men have varying degrees of 'sex drives' but women tend not to have the social pressure to 'get laid' that men do, instead have social pressure not to. We're at a bit of a crossroads gender wise, and the 'rules' are not so much changing as morphing into unrecognizable ideals.
So the guy in the cartoon is situational, he's not loking to "relate" as much he's truly lookng to get laid. Not, shall we say, exactly boyfriend material or even, most likely much good for a zipless fuck (to quote Erica Jong)
