We need a place that is decoupled from the two party structure that focuses on electing progressive candidates and is not limited to Ds and Rs.
DU probably was close to that on founding.
However, DU has become a victim of its own success and is now hamstrung by the rules that only support candidates labeled as Ds.

I believe that DU has always supported only Democratic candidates, even from the start in 2001.
