Sen. Bernie Sanders is returning to Vermont today before setting off again for Washington D.C. to meet with President Obama on Thursday.
Sanders might speak to supporters upon arrival in South Burlington, expected between 5:30 and 7 p.m., according to the senator's campaign.
"The struggle continues," Sanders wrote to supporters, echoing comments he made at a rally in Santa Monica early Wednesday morning. "We are going to fight for every vote in Tuesday's primary in Washington, DC, and then we will bring our political revolution to the Democratic convention in Philadelphia."
The group Rights & Democracy VT has planned a "Welcome Home" rally for Sanders at Heritage Aviation in South Burlington. The rally is unaffiliated with Sanders' formal campaign.
Sanders and his wife, Jane, boarded a plane in Los Angeles bound for Vermont at about 1 p.m., according to the New York Times. Afterward, Rights & Democracy VT moved the rally time back an hour to 5:30 p.m.
"We plan to line the streets from where his plane arrives to say: 'Thank you Bernie! Let's keep up the Fight!' We will start outside Heritage Aviation down Aviation Ave to Williston Road down towards Burlington," the group wrote on its Facebook event page.
The Burlington Free Press plans to have live video of the rally.
