In reply to the discussion: Bernie Sanders Delivered the Most Profound Speech Since We Lost MLK [View all]MineralMan
(146,288 posts)I was in the back of the crowd for his 1965 "How Long? Not Long" speech in Alabama. I also heard Bernie Sanders' speech. There is no possible comparison between the two. MKL electrified his audience. His speech changed the direction of my life, from being an aspiring engineer to becoming a writer who helped people do things in several areas. MLK's speech inspired hope in his audience, for things that still have not been realized.
Bernie's speech is not what that writer said it was. Not even close. it was a campaign speech by a candidate who is slipping in the polls. It was a speech by a candidate for President, running for the second time for the Democratic nomination. It wasn't a bad speech. It was a pretty good speech, actually. But it was not the speech that writer characterized it as being. Nope.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
