In reply to the discussion: Why is Biden in the lead? [View all]Celerity
(43,357 posts)It certainly is not his Senatorial record.
I agree, it is frustrating, look at who I support (if we are comparing speaking, big picture comprehensive vision, and explanatory abilities.) But after the chaos and hate of Rump, so many just want a 'nice' persona who appears empathetic and who has experience.
IF Harris had went for the centre lane from the start (instead of an initial hard left tack into the lane dominated by Bernie and Warren) she would be much more viable as an Option B in the space Biden is occupying. She is trying to incrementally slide back there, but it takes time and can make her look unfocused.
My big hope is Biden picks Abrams as VP, as I do not see him as 100% being up to a full 8 years, and that places her as the front-runner for 2024 or 2028. I would put Harris in there too, IF she can focus her overall positioning. Risk-adverse Biden will not pick Pete, as the endemic homophobia (and the SB cop issues, especially that shooting) in our community is a no-go for Joe to risk black support and turnout over. I hate that, it hurts my core being (as I am a mixed race lesbian) but it is the reality of the times still, especially with older blacks, and also the fundie xian ones.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
