Democratic Primaries

(59,503 posts)DU started after the Gore loss in 2000. While I remember many college students and other 20 somethings around 2005 when I first became very active, most of those people who I "knew" left years ago. I suspect that 2016 led to many younger people who chose Sanders over Clinton felt uncomfortable especially during the primary and again after she lost.
In 2000 - 2008, DU was also more liberal than the Democratic universe. Now, we still may be more liberal than a random select of Democrats selected to match our age profile. That might be why Warren tops our preferences.
It might also show that the shift to the left in the party is less people moving their positions than the younger people, possibly because they entered the job market after the 2008 collapse of the market, being more liberal/progressive than we are. (In my own family, our three daughters are usually to our left on most issues.)
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
