that we want them. We have a democracy, while we can hold onto it. Government of, by and for the people.

Does a dominating percentage of our descendants of slaves feel they should be paid reparations, and how strongly? How many do not and how strongly? We've a very wealthy nation. We could afford it. For all of us, it might be not just an honorable gesture but a practical investment in our national health if it'd make that better. Would it?

Of course other groups would demand the same, and rightfully. We could afford further reparations for descendants of indigenous Americans, of interned Japanese Americans, etc., though as numbers mounted (thinking of descendants of Hispanic victims) they might become pretty costly.

I'm thinking it's reparations for women we really might be forced to draw a line at, specifically because we are by far the largest group of victims of intense, typically institutionalized discrimination that has resulted in forms of economic, social and legal bondage through the entire existence of this nation. And we're half of all other oppressed groups. Perhaps we could settle simply for a centuries-overdue equal pay right for those to come.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
