(95,247 posts)My understanding is that 'ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny' no longer taken seriously by evolutionary science. M. de Chardin seems to have been rather hazy about exactly what this 'noosphere' actually would be, and I am familiar only with some commentary on his work, by Mr. Gould. I do think he meant anything produced to design, any sort of tool or artifact, but something organic, some sequence of hereditable alterations of the body and brain. Pushed far enough, it calls to mind something of the old urschleim, an actual film over the globe of consciousness and spirit, but that hardly sounds right. The man was a monk, was not allowed to publish some of his speculative work while he was alive.
One rabbit-hole or another, eh?
I may have had a senior moment and mispelled the thing above, using a 'z' for an 'n'. I will check, and if so will edit.
After checking, I did not mispell.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
