And no, I don't think that Sanders is the best choice at this early stage, and he may not be the best choice next year. If Sanders were to maintain his high status past the primaries and is nominated, I don't think that the Democratic Party will fret and worry that he's not really one of them, either. He has natural and philosophical allies in the Dem Party. But I hope he fades by then, as I hope Biden will fade by then. There are leaders in the Dem Party who have good sense, charisma, energy, (relative) youth, and strong ideas about the future of the nation. And the Democratic Party, right now, is brimming with talent. Let's use that talent. We don't have to rely on the old standard bearers who may have name recognition, but lack in creating excitement around their candidacies.
