Messed up the forum with adblock accident
I used adblock the wrong way, and managed to lose some functionality of the forum. Icons are all missing. Even the DU Rec is gone, but the box it's in is there. Pictures and gifs are present under posts, but it looks like only some are showing. The icons in front of each post is gone, and where threads have a chevron look, because of replies, all replies are now in a vertical column. Latest, Greatest, all missing icons.
I've been through this before, and someone here had some bright instructions on how to restore things. It's making reading the forum difficult to impossible.
I just uninstalled everything, and cleaned the registry. Then I used IE to download firefox, which is now up to date. I was hoping that would solve the problem. It's still acting the same, which boggles me enough to be asking for help.
Any ideas? Thanks.

(8,543 posts)Does the site look normal (or at least more normal) if you go to http://upload.democraticunderground.com/ instead?
Go to your Adblock Options and select Filter Preferences then choose Custom Filters and see if anything like http://www.democraticunderground.com/imgs/ or a similar folder (or specific images) is/are listed. Uncheck the Enabled box or just delete the filter rule. (The navigation on how to get to those settings will probably vary depending on your platform/browser - you might need to Google Adblock help for whatever you're on if it's not easy to find.)
That should hopefully undo any Adblock weirdness specific to DU. If that's not the issue, maybe you did something to block images more globally. Is it only happening at DU, or also on other sites?

(23,867 posts)there is this in my exceptions rules- @@||democraticunderground.com^$document. But it was unchecked. Otherwise there are three things in ad blocking rules that have no democraticunderground. Instead they are as follows:
||st.blogads.com/597383404/*
||i.blogads.com/480328740/*
||cache.blogads.com/597383404/*
Update. I did the below, and everything worked, unless I'm dreaming. So I went to a page on DU, opened a thread, and it's just like it was before. I'm lost again.
So I unchecked those, and I'm back on the road again. Do you know what those are? It's the reason I didn't figure it out. I only experiment with things I can break. I should have done that here.
Thanks. It's only been this way for five years.

(23,867 posts)I'm not sure what it does, but the result is a fresh Firefox. It leaves no add-ons though. So it's pretty drastic.
