Yavin4's JournalThe Republican party created Trump. They're wholly responsible for him.
Since Reagan in 1980, the Republican party has been pandering to those who were on the wrong sides of the Civil Rights movement, the feminist movement, the LGBTQ movement, the labor movement, etc. They've used dog whistles and other tactics to win over the fringe losers of the 60s/70s social progress movement. Reagan's Welfare Queen. Bush I with Willie Horton. Bush II with his stance against marriage equality.
After Bush II's humiliation in Iraq, Wall Street bailouts after the housing collapses, and two losses to a (gasp!) Black president, the pandered to Republican base wanted someone who lived and breathed their ugliness. They no longer wanted dog whistles. They wanted and got a bullhorn of foulness.
That pandered to base now controls that party in full. Legacy media can pretend all it wants to that there's still a sane Republican party, but that shipped has sailed. Maybe, just maybe, if they had been a little bit more brutally honest with the Republican base about the dog whistles, we would still have a somewhat decent party today.
Trump is your creation Dr. Frankenstein.

Ohtani posted to Instagram on Saturday saying he would play for his former team's crosstown rival starting next season after spending six seasons with the Los Angeles Angels.
"I pledge to always do what's best for the team and always continue to give it my all to be the best version of myself. Until the last day of my playing career, I want to continue to strive forward not only for the Dodgers but for the baseball world," Ohtani wrote.

This is a historic contract in US professional sports and is a valid LBN subject.
10 Cities Where Housing + Transportation Costs Are Crushing
Can I get my money back on this book?
Edited to add context: Kevin McCarthy, the last remaining "Young Gun" (LOL!) is leaving the congress.
I just saw an AI demonstration that makes my former occupation completely obsolete.
And this demo was from a no-name startup. More established vendors in this space are working on their own AI enabled application. This AI app does text classification with detailed explanations as well as document summaries. It also does document searches using Natural Language Processing.
People currently working in my former occupation have about 2, maybe 3, years of employment.
My vote for biggest political winner of 2023 is...
Reproductive Rights!
Unlike the political loser of 2023, the political winner is a clear choice. In a strong red state, Reproductive Rights won not one but two elections in fairly sizeable majorities. Once again showing that progressive values in the heartland of America are politically popular.

What's your vote for biggest political winner of 2023?
Congrats to the Wash. Huskies and Farewell to the Pac-12.
I never thought I'd live to see the end of the Pac-12. Truly, truly, truly sad.
My vote for biggest political loser of 2023
It was a tough call. Many big time contenders. But, I have to give it to....Florida man himself, Ron DeSantis. A year ago at this time, he was riding high after the 2022 mid terms. The only bright spot of a horrible night for Republicans. Looked like a very real challenger to Trump. Could he dethrone the King of the Republican party? Nope. He ends 2023 being humiliated on Fox News by someone not even running for president. Unbelievable.
Coming in a very, very close second, Kevin McCarthy. This was tough folks. Big Kev started the year winning the Speaker's job after rounds of being humiliated. Fast forward a few months later, and he's tossed out entirely.
Honorable mentions:
George Santos
Gym Jordan
Kari Lake
Lauren Boebert
Vivek Ramaswamy
