Yavin4's JournalMatt Hancock, Britain's beleaguered health secretary, resigns after being caught kissing aide
The married politician was pictured kissing and embracing his adviser, with whom British tabloid The Sun alleges he is having an affair. The newspaper reported that the images were from May 6, two weeks before cross-household contact was allowed indoors in England.
"I've been to see the Prime Minister to resign as Secretary of State for Health and Social care... Those of us who make these rules have got to stick by them, and that's why I've got to resign," Hancock said in a video posted on his Twitter page.
"I'm very proud of what we've done to protect the NHS at the peak, to deliver that vaccine rollout -- one of the fastest in the world -- and I look forward to supporting the government and the Prime Minister from the backbenches," he added.

There are Democrats in the Senate that do not agree with the Democratic base
and are comfortable with Republican rule.
The fallacy here is the belief that Democrats are all one big team when we are very far from that. The Republicans are a team. Step out against Trump and feel the wrath of Republican leadership. Step out against Biden, and party leaders will negotiate with you.
If the Republicans achieve their endgame of limiting democracy, there are Democrats that will be okay with it because they value their wealth, money, and privileged status over democracy itself.
Without real leadership in the party to purge these Democrats, our democracy will eventually be limited.
List of U.S. colleges and universities say students must have received a COVID-19 vaccine
Requiring vaccinations before going back to school will go a really long way towards heading off another surge. Given the 6 weeks between the initial shot and full vaccination, look for a surge in vaccinations in July which make students fully vaxxed in time before semesters start in August.

U. of I. to require vaccinations for all students returning to its 3 campuses this fall
Great news.
The states flagship U. of I. system in Urbana-Champaign, Chicago and Springfield appears to be the first public university in the state to require vaccinations. It becomes the latest Illinois university to require a shot after a handful of private institutions did the same.
This requirement is consistent with our own scientific modeling of the risks associated with the spread of the virus and its variants, university leaders wrote in an email to students, faculty and staff.

Universities and colleges need to mandate vaccinations in order to head off another surge in the Fall/Early Winter months. Last Oct-Jan, we saw the highest surge in new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths largely due to the holidays season. I would guess that a good portion of this surge was due to students returning home for the holidays.
Bucks advance. Nets knocked out.
This is turning out to be the most compelling NBA playoffs in a long, long time. Of the 5 remaining teams, the most recent championship won was the 76ers in 1983!

Any Python programmers here? Don't worry. It's not a technical post.
If yes, I'm sure that you've used, or at least heard of, the Seaborn visualization library. Do you know where that library got its name?
From the character, Sam Seaborn from "The West Wing". When you import the library, the custom abbreviation is SNS which are Sam's initials.
Congratulations California on getting to 70%+ vaccinations and lifting your COVID-19 restrictions.
A job well done. This is an important step towards returning us back to normal.
The new health order went into effect Tuesday and allows vaccinated people to go without a face covering in most situations, putting the state in line with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Masks are still required on public transportation, in hospitals and jails, as well as at schools, child care centers and K-12, pending updated guidance from the CDC.
