kentuck's JournalWhy Trump will not be inclined to pardon the insurrectionists (mob)?
Because he does everything in his own self interest.
If he were to pardon these criminals, he would probably blow whatever chance he has of being acquitted after the trial in the Senate?
At present, it is probably a close call?
But, if he pardons them, the Senate would probably have no choice but to convict.
He will do what he thinks is best for Donald.
Steve Bannon re-entered Trump's inner circle a couple of weeks ago.
A "coup" is something he would advise Trump about.
He was the first person advising Trump about destruction of the "administrative state". And they have done a good job destroying the different departments of our government. (The State Dept was especially hard hit)
Bannon is a loose cannon. He has no loyalty to our country or what America might stand for in the eyes of the world.
It would not be surprising to hear that he helped organize and plan this attempted coup.
Most Americans cannot afford to buy expensive weapons or take a trip to Washington ...
... at the request of the President.
Those Americans that complain the most seem to be the most privileged? They do not want for the comforts of life, as many do. They take their excess money and buy guns and ammo and travel to right-wing events.
They complain about everything they hear on talk radio or FOX News. They have grown to hate our country in their comfort.
The average working person cannot afford to buy weapons as these aggrieved citizens do.
It is ironic that those that have profited the most from our system of government are the ones most angry with our government. Many people have much stronger and valid grievances than this bunch of privileged windbags.
Has McConnell sent the message to Trump yet that if he pardons even one of these criminals....
...the trial will begin immediately.
If not, he should have.
We cannot permit such lawlessness.
I am all out of words but I will try to not be inflammatory.
But there are some facts we should not forget.
Donald Trump could have stopped the assault on our government if he had chosen.
Many people called him and pleaded for him to stop the assault on our Capitol. The mob took down the American flag and put up a Trump flag. What should that tell us? They beat a police officer with an American flag as he lay helpless on the ground. What does that say about their love for the American flag? Or for the "blue line"?
He told the mob at the rally that "We are going to march down to the Capitol", giving them the impression that he was going to go with them.
Once again, he told them that he had won a landslide victory and that someone was going to be in the White House that should not be there. There was no evidence that he won the election and more than 60 judges, after careful examination of the facts, disagreed with him. But he continued with the Big Lie. And he made his supporters believe it. The truth is so uncomfortable sometimes.
He advised the mob that some of the people at the Capitol were strong and some were weak and that they had to be "strong". That is how they were to distinguish who was on their side and who was not?
He advised them that if they were not "strong", they would not have a country very long.
It was all code but they understood it perfectly. They knew very well what he was asking them to do. They thought he was with them.
After the mob had breached the Capitol, many people inside and out were calling for help. Trump ignored them. He enjoyed watching it on TV, according to reports. After the damage had been done, he came out and gave a short, meaningless speech.
Whether you love Trump or not, you should not dismiss these basic facts.
Everybody has grievances against their government but they don't get in their private plane and fly to Washington to attack our Capitol and the people elected to office. They don't look to overthrow our democracy. It is insane and criminal.
No one can justify it by saying Hillary called us "deplorables" or Robert DeNiro threatened to punch Trump in the face. That is a sick and weak equivocation.
Donald Trump could have stopped the assault on our Capitol if he had chosen.
That is a fact we should never forget.

How the Capitol insurrectionists were similar to the 9/11 terrorists?
They were both successful beyond their wildest imaginations.
Both of them celebrated their great victories.
In the end, the terrorists saw their countries demolished and hundreds of thousands of lives lost.
We do not know what the end holds for the brain-washed insurrectionists? Many may end up like the followers of Charles Manson. They were just following the commands of their leader and those that are still living are still in prison.
Trump wants his supporters to come to the White House and see him off when he leaves.
I heard it on CNN this morning.
He wants one more adoring fix from his supporters before he departs.
He wants them to tell him what a great job he did and how much they appreciate him.
He would like this to be the final scene in the movie.
What should Merrick Garland, the Attorney General do, the day after Inauguration ?
Should he issue subpoenas?
Should he make arrests?
Should he ask for a bi-partisan Commission ?
As the chief law enforcement officer of our nation, what should he do?
