Those Senators that were complicit with the "Big Lie" should abstain from voting?

If they were out there pushing the lie that Trump won the election, they are not qualified to be a juror - they should be a defendant.

But, then again, it might make it very difficult to find 17 Republicans that were not pushing the "Big Lie"?

Regardless, in my opinion, this point should be part of the discussion. If they cannot abstain, it is not going to be a fair acquittal.

This cannot be acceptable to any true American.

Any Senator that cannot defend our nation from this kind of attack does not deserve to be in the US Senate. They are complicit in sedition against the USA.

Americans have to understand what has happened and what is at stake. It is not about Democrats or Republicans. It is about America.

If you can't defend it, get the hell out! We don't need you protecting our backs.

We can only hope that the voters educate themselves before the next election.

If the Legislature fails our democracy, will the Judiciary also fail us?

The Executive Branch would be the sole surviving option for the American people and their democracy.

The Senate is not supposed to play the role of puppet to the Executive. They should be strong and independent as the upper branch of the Legislature.

The Judiciary cannot shy away from justice. They cannot put politics over justice. The first objective in the Preamble to the Constitution was to "Establish Justice". Nothing can exist in a democracy without it.

Where does our country go from here?

The three witnesses I would like to see testify?

First, I would like to know who told Ben Sasse that Trump was excited and gleeful when the mob was storming the Capitol? I would like to see that person testify to Trump's mental state at that time.

Secondly, I would want to see the person that told him to send the tweet to call off the dogs. That would be my second choice. Why did he wait so long?

Third and lastly, I would like to see Mike Pence testify. What did he think, as he was hiding out and running for his life, when Trump sent out a tweet calling him a "coward"? Since he knows that there is little chance of him ever being elected President, what has he got to lose? (Except his life and family) He could be a hero for America. He could go down in the history books if he could persuade enough Republicans to change their minds and their votes about Donald Trump. He could be a very intersting witness.

We can't say it because we don't want to hurt their feelings or say something divisive....

...but maybe it should be said?

The reason they are voting against America and our Constitution is because they are complicit.

They are no better than Trump. They are the same as Trump. They want him in their Party and they want to run with him on the ticket.

If that is what the voters want, then so be it. Let them vote for it.

But, they should know before they vote just who they are voting for.

They are voting for treasonous, anti-American, unpatriotic criminals that have attacked our own people. They are not worthy to be called Americans.

There is no puzzle about why they vote like they do.

They are complicit.

The Bio to the right of the screen of Schoen...?

It says he is the attorney for the "President"?

I thought they were arguing that he couldn't be charged because he was no longer the President??

(They took it down after a short time)

Why did John Roberts decide to not preside over the impeachment trial?

When the Constitution states that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court shall preside over all impeachment trials in the Senate?

Was it his decision to make?

Wasn't he required to preside if the Senate decided a trial was necessary?

I would like to let the Republicans in on a little secret...

Donald Trump is going to divorce you and start a new Party.

He is going to leave the Republican Party.

Then you can ask yourself, "Was it worth it?"

You sold your souls for nothing.

Fools need not look for sympathy.

Trump hints it would be 'very bad' for Democrats....

From March 2019:

Trump hints it would be 'very bad' for Democrats if his supporters among the military, police, bikers get 'tough'

https://www.businessinsider.com/bikers-for-trump-breitbart-interview-military-police-support-2019-3

President Donald Trump made another reference to his supporters' potential for violence in an interview published Wednesday.

Speaking to Breitbart News, Trump said that while the left "plays a tougher game," his supporters "are tougher."

"I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump – I have the tough people, but they don't play it tough — until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad," Trump said. "But the left plays it cuter and tougher."

It's hardly the first time Trump's has talked up — and even goaded — his supporters' potential for violence.

Can someone help find a video that was on DU this morning?

It was an historical video by some guy whom I cannot remember his name. It was about Andrew Johnson and what the South did during their insurrection and how John Brown was the only person hanged for treason?

(I have searched and cannot find)
