Nothing demoralizes Trump more than low ratings.

So far, his "Convention" is not getting the numbers that Biden and the Democrats got at their Convention. That must really burn his ass?

Reportedly, last night's ratings were a record low for any Convention. I guess Mike Pence just doesn't turn the people on?

Tonight is his last chance to defeat Biden in the ratings. Up to this point, I have not watched any of their "live" Convention.

I see no reason to start tonight.

Hitler on The Big Lie (from Mein Kampf)

https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/hitler-on-the-big-lie

All this was inspired by the principle - which is quite true in itself - that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes. From time immemorial, however, the Jews have known better than any others how falsehood and calumny can be exploited. Is not their very existence founded on one great lie, namely, that they are a religious community, where as in reality they are a race? And what a race! One of the greatest thinkers that mankind has produced has branded the Jews for all time with a statement which is profoundly and exactly true. Schopenhauer called the Jew "The Great Master of Lies". Those who do not realize the truth of that statement, or do not wish to believe it, will never be able to lend a hand in helping Truth to prevail.

Three responses from previous debates that will work against Trump:

"There he goes again", when he tells an obvious lie. Which he will because he can't help himself.
It is an old quote from the Reagan/Carter debates.

"Where's the beef?", asked by Walter Mondale to Gary Hart. It totally disarmed Hart and may have helped Mondale get the nomination? Biden can use this line when Trump starts bragging about his wall.

"Mr Trump, you are no Abraham Lincoln", paraphrasing a LLoyd Bentsen quote directed at Dan Quayle, when Quayle tried to compare himself to JFK.

I am sure there are others that would be equally effective.

Woody Guthrie singing about Fred Trump

<snip>
Beach Haven ain't my home!
I just cain't pay this rent!
My money's down the drain!
And my soul is badly bent!
Beach Haven looks like heaven
Where no black ones come to roam!
No, no, no! Old Man Trump!
Old Beach Haven ain't my home!

Look at what has become "normal"...

There was a time when Conventions were traditional, with funny hats and balloons, and large signs from each state, and drinking, partying, and deal making.

But no more.

Now, we have a Convention from the White House, designed to show off our royalty, with most of the speakers being members of the family, trusted members of the staff, and a few sycophants. And that is the extent of it. We get to hear how great the Dear Leader is and what great deeds he has done for our country.

There is nothing "normal" about it.

And that is just one thing the country has agreed to accept.

As if it is a switch they can turn "on" and "off".

What is the official Democratic position on protesters and looters?

Should they have a position?

Will voters blame Democrats for the destruction and violence on election day?

What should be the Democratic message?

Which is more secure? To vote in person, or by mail?

Not necessarily which is more "safe".

But, if I cannot get my ballot mailed with at least two weeks left until Election Day, I will choose to stand in line to vote, if necessary.

It's sad that there is so much doubt about out voting system.

How the US Senate destroyed the "balance of powers" and democracy?

From the beginning, Mitch McConnell and the Republicans surrendered the authority of the Senate over to the Executive Branch. In the process, they destroyed the "balance of powers", which was created to protect the people from abuses by one branch or the other. This was a blunder of tragic proportion.

They simply refused to investigate or ask any questions about any suspicious or criminal activities from the White House. When the House impeached Donald Trump, they even refused to hear witnesses. It was nothing more than a whitewash and a cover-up.

So here we are today. The US Senate has torn down our defenses against authoritarianism and made our democracy very vulnerable to attack.

The guilty must be pointed out.

Can you imagine four more years?

How many marches on Washington DC?

How many cities with protests? How much violence?

How many ambushes? How many racial confrontations?

It doesn't take a genius to read these tea leaves.

This is all happening under the watch of Donald J Trump. He can blame whomever he wishes. His followers can believe whomever they choose.

But, when you are the President, you take the credit or you take the blame.

Choose your poison.
