Twelve feet away on Planet Trump.......

Good short recap of the environmental part of the debate. I loved that line by the writer, Bill Weir.

How the debate on the climate crisis ricocheted from Planet Earth to Planet Trump

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/23/politics/climate-crisis-presidential-debate-analysis-weir-wxc/index.html

There were no other programs. Instead, the President hit a gusher of lies, confusion and insistence that the US remain reliant on fossil fuels, despite the overwhelming evidence that the hell and high water of 2020 is just the beginning.

Twelve feet away on Planet Trump, such predictions brought a smile. "I know more about wind than you do and it's extremely expensive," the President claimed. "Kills all the birds."

On Planet Trump last night, "solar doesn't quite have it yet." But on Planet Earth earlier this month, a renewable energy company called NextEra was more valuable than ExxonMobil and the International Energy Agency declared that "solar projects now offer some of the lowest cost electricity ever seen."

Uncontrollable gigafires and a conga line of hurricanes make this an easier political lift, but Biden is quick to temper the nightmare of unpredictable weather with the dream of 50,000 electric car charging stations, millions of energy-efficient remodels and lots of green $50-an-hour, union jobs. "It will cost $100 trillion!" Trump said of the plan, inflating Biden's stated cost by fifty times.

Thanks Trump! No Santa this year 🎅🏻

Santa is skipping Macy's for the first time in 159 years

https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/22/business/santa-macys-coronavirus/index.html

There will be no miracle on 34th Street this year. Santa Claus won't be visiting any Macy's stores in 2020, ending a 159-year holiday season tradition.

The department store's tradition started in 1861, but Santa meet-and-greets won't be happening this year because of concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, Macy's (M) is creating an interactive virtual experience.

"To replicate the magical experience of visiting Macy's Santaland for children and their families, we will shift to a virtual engagement this year," Susan Tercero, Macy's vice president of Branded Entertainment, said in a press release. It will be available online from November 27 to December 24.

Pope Francis calls for civil union laws for same-sex couples

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/europe/pope-francis-civil-unions/2020/10/21/805a601c-139e-11eb-a258-614acf2b906d_story.html

Pope Francis, in a new documentary, has called for the creation of civil union laws for same-sex couples, in what amounts to his clearest support to date for the issue.

In the documentary, according to the Catholic News Agency, Francis is quoted as saying that same-sex couples should be “legally covered.”

“What we have to create is a civil union law,” he said.

Let's start off with the basics. How do you remove last night's vomit from your rug?

1. Let's start off with the basics. How do you remove last night's vomit from your rug?
3. Did you also forget to use a coaster at your tasting? A little mayonnaise can go a long way!

7. Are your clothes covered in wine stains? Don't worry!

8. Chalk (yes, chalk) is great for absorbing and removing grease stains.

11. If your trash can smells like a garbage dump, soak a piece of bread in vinegar and let it sit in the bottom of the can overnight.

Channing Dungey will replace the longtime executive Peter Roth to become the chairwoman of the Warner Bros. television studio early next year, WarnerMedia announced on Monday.

Ms. Dungey, who became the first Black executive to run an entertainment division at a major network when she joined ABC in 2016, departing in 2018, will take control of one of the biggest television studios in the industry.

The Warner Bros. television studio makes hit programs shown on many networks, including “The Bachelor” (ABC), “Riverdale” (a show that aired on the CW and became more popular when it started streaming on Netflix) and “Young Sheldon” (CBS).

Under Ms. Dungey, Warner Bros. is also expected to be a big supplier to Warner Media’s five-month-old streaming platform, HBO Max.

¿Questions for those back at work - Working through lunch?

We returned to going into the office in July. At first it was 2 days a week on site (office) and still teleworking the other days.

In September we went back to full 5 days a week on site.

We have a cafeteria but we can’t eat in it.
I find myself at my desk eating and working at the same time. There’s no real push-away-go-to-lunch break. I do miss our lunches - great conversation from a variety of backgrounds.

Any one else finding themselves working through lunch MUCH more than they used to?
