That would be astounding - if he became such a public joke that he goes into seclusion.

although it'd be nice! I know I personally could seriously stand to take a break from this guy. But his ego and his narcissism both seem to be so strong, vast, and profound, that I don't think he could stand NOT being out in the public arena, stomping and careening wildly around, like a drunk F-5 tornado, sucking up as much attention as possible, and spewing out as much wreckage, ruin, debris, and general negativity as possible. And good attention/bad attention - it doesn't seem to make a difference to him! And he doesn't care!

Besides, he still sounds and behaves as though he's sure he'll win and he's merely angry that there are those who have the nerve to say he isn't, especially if he continues to embrace the bubble world as he seems to. Meanwhile, he's getting angrier, too. Stuff isn't caving to him like he's used to having it do. His "reality" inside that bubble world - where TV audiences adored him, Pox Noise was a wide-open door anytime he felt like ringing them up, he was on the cover of all kinds of magazines, a celebrity in his own right, and everybody wanted some little rub up against that Trump name and gold-plated perceived luster.

This campaign has opened many eyes about The Donald. He'll still have his true believers - because they cling to that bubble world as much as he does. And they WANT, WANT, REEEEEEALLY WANT it to be true. So the faithful will stay faithful, and the true believers will still truly believe.

Besides, nobody wants to admit they were wrong.

Many people are loathe to admit they made a mistake. I mean - look at who their nominee is!

And people REALLY, deeply and dearly don't want to admit they've been HAD.

Yep! He's gonna go down in history as the first Presidential candidate to be beaten by a GIRL!!!

Poetic justice! Couldn't happen to a "nicer" Sick Fuck!

On edit -
Hey, Moostache - I went back and made myself a copy of your post. Just to savor later on. I wanted to be sure I could find it again!

DEPLORABLE!

And a lot more.

Despicable.
Detestable.
Disgusting.
Disgraceful.
Dreadful.
Damnable.

And that's just one letter's worth.

He's a Frankenstein's Monster in real life!

As we've said at our house - "YOU crawled into bed with him. Now he gets to fuck you."

Yes, GOP. YOU built this. This is YOUR monster who's rising up to eat YOU now, because he can't be controlled - and never could be. You just didn't want to recognize it. And you were just sure that once you unleashed him, he'd reliably go eat up your opponents. And that he'd stop, there.

Reap what you sow. "Reap" starts most appropriately, in this case, with an "R."

Re: Howard Jarvis - for those here who weren't around, or were too young, in the late 70s...

the name "Howard Jarvis" is a HUGE tell for many of us here in California. In 1978, this rumpled old dude led an anti-tax crusade pushing what was then the infamous "Proposition 13" - which almost literally took a meat axe to property taxes and was passed by the voters. In doing so, funds dried up for all kinds of worthy priorities here in California from schools to infrastructure and police 'n' fire.

Yes, property taxes were high. It's a cross we bear here in California, in exchange for the year-round balmy weather, a prevailing live-and-let-live attitude, the beautiful surroundings, the beach-to-mountains and beach-to-desert within an easy drive, and other cool and desirable things. And yes, taco trucks on almost every corner. Which we LOVE!

But little old ladies in Santa Monica and elsewhere were starting to feel the pinch. The elderly on fixed incomes were finding that property taxes were rising so high that they were, in some cases, in danger of being priced out of their homes. Okay. Certainly a legitimate and serious problem. But Prop 13 addressed the problem the way you'd use napalm and plutonium bombs to wipe out the weeds and the crabgrass in the front yard. There was another tax-relief measure on the ballot, Proposition 8, which wasn't nearly so drastic but did lower property taxes, but didn't gut public services as horribly as Prop 13 did. Governor Brown (THAT same Governor Brown, who's presently on his second tour of duty as our governor) supported it. NOBODY wanted to listen, though. Howard Jarvis was a VERY appealing spokesman, a disheveled, very sympathetic elderly Everyman type who had the kind of loveably-grouchy-grandpa appeal we saw with Bernie Sanders. Which is NO insult to Bernie, btw; rather - an entirely unearned compliment to Howard Jarvis.

But unlike Bernie Sanders, Howard Jarvis was a wolf-in-sheep's-clothing. He was a one-issue dude - hated taxes. Wanted to get rid of them. Didn't see any need for 'em (so, then, how ARE we suppose to fund the public and government services that so many of us need and consider legit and necessary - even VITAL - for the sake of the health, well-being, safety, and preservation of society in general, huh???). Howard Jarvis seized on the growing property tax problem and rode it all the way to victory, which allowed the whole I-Don-t-Wanna-Pay-Taxes thing to grow, flourish, and metastasize from coast to coast. Some people even thought Howard Jarvis should run for President after that election. One shrewdly ambitious guy in particular saw it as an exquisitely beautiful and ruthlessly timely opportunity, and he exploited it to the skies. And he rode the anti-tax citizens revolt that Prop 13 initiated here in CA all the way into the White House in 1980. Some guy named Reagan.

WHENEVER I see the name "Howard Jarvis" attached to ANY group or ANY proposal or ANYTHING, I automatically know I should oppose it.

OH YEAH! HIGHLY satisfying absentee ballot adventure we had, last night!

Our son stopped by the house last night. His dad (my husband) and I had, earlier, spent more than an hour researching the ballot propositions, checking the LA Times recommendations on ballot measures (and judges we knew little about), and reading through the thick voter manual for the pro-and-con arguments, NOTING IN PARTICULAR, btw, WHO ENDORSES either side. For example, I find, personally, that an endorsement by any Howard Jarvis-related anti-tax organization, or any highfalutin'-sounding "Citizens Against Tax such-n-such" organization, is a TELL. Which tells me not support whatever it is. If conservation organizations are on the list, I tend to vote for whatever it is. Same thing with Common Cause - I usually support what they endorse. The same, SOMETIMES, if I see the League of Women Voters - but NOT necessarily every time! In those cases you have to look at who else is on there, too. Anti-tax people turn me off. Flatly!

Hint: ALWAYS look a little deeper. ALWAYS!!! If there's some name on there you don't recognize, check 'em out!!! DIG A LITTLE DEEPER! ALWAYS!!!

ALWAYS!!!

In this case, there actually WAS one adding his name to the opposition of one of the propositions - some obscure guy I'd never heard of, who was running for Congress elsewhere in California, not in my own district. I googled him and discovered - AHA! He's a CON! Look at that! You have to dig to find the "R" after his name, because he doesn't offer it in the ballot arguments that include his name. (Jeff Stone, a republi-CON State Senator, running in California's 28th District, who lives in Temecula and wants to represent Riverside County (SoCal, inland), in Congress. I swear - I googled him and had to skim down to the SEVENTH listing before I found the key - that he's a republi-CON. They're cagey, these CONS. They try to disguise it so carefully these days! You have to dig down. Because any of those other links above this one...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Stone_(California_politician)

...WON'T tell you, if you're just skimming the links. That information is NOT readily available. And I think it's deliberate. I guess they assume you'll just go to the first one at the top of the list and see enough to think - "oh, okay, looks like a credible individual or endorsement. Seems harmless enough. Okay, I'll vote the way he says, on that one. He's a State Senator, after all..." Which only proves you ABSOLUTELY MUST "read BELOW the headlines"!!!

TOTALLY!

In this case, our cagey little friend Jeff Stone, is hoping to fly below the radar. He's clearly counting on YOUR possible tendency toward not looking into things a little more deeply, and NOT doing your homework = NOT being FULLY INFORMED! He identifies himself here ONLY as a State Senator, 28th District (NO party affiliation given - deliberately, I suspect). And he's NOT surprisingly weighing in AGAINST California State Proposition 59 - which is our state's Citizens United ballot measure: "Asks whether California's elected officials should use their authority to propose and ratify an amendment to the federal Constitution overturning the United States Supreme Court decisions in Citizens United V. Federal Election Committee." AHA! Makes total sense. He's a CON! Of course he doesn't want the Citizens United decision overturned!!!

You've GOT TO dig down a little bit! Take a wee bit of time to do some research! I know it's a pain in the ass. But it HAS TO be done ANYWAY! It is CRITICAL to MAKE SURE you're more fully informed! You'll make far better choices that way!

ANYWAY - we filled in all our vote choices on the sample ballot pamphlet, and then took out our absentee ballots and went down the list and filled in all the little circles using our sample ballot as our guide. Once you do THE RESEARCH, filling out the actual absentee ballot is a cinch - only takes a couple of minutes! Then tuck that sucker into the little paper sheath, and pop the whole thing into the envelope, sign the back, and seal it with a kiss! Stick a stamp on the front and mail it! And you're DONE!

We left our pamphlet guide with our son's absentee ballot. He already knows the drill, from elections past. His political views match ours, and he trusts us, just anyway. He made a beeline for it, filled out his ballot, plopped it into his envelope, sealed it, and signed the back. I'm going to hand-carry our three completed ballots up to the local post office later today and savor the moment that three more Hillary votes are going on the record, and making HISTORY!!!

His ego IS his pocketbook.

Perhaps he feels it's big enough to - uh - "trump" his - um - "shortcomings."

Welcome to DU, prairie deem!

Thanks for sharing this! It's really terrific! Great "ammo" for shutting down their deplorableness.

Indescribably delicious!

“Nothing in our article has had the slightest effect on the reputation that Mr. Trump, through his own words and actions, has already created for himself.”

EPIC quote!!!!

Sigh... it must be love!

We had a similar experience after losing a kitten to disease. The vet called us about a teeny kitty that had been dumped at their door - too small to be adopted yet but we could come and see. My husband went, still grieving for the lost little one. It was love at first sight, they said let's keep her for a couple of weeks to build her strength. And a few minutes later they said - "aw, hell, why don't you just take her now!"

She's 17 now, and still going strong.
