calimary's JournalWelcome to DU, SeattleTater!
trump is not only flirting with treason, he's in bed with it. And the same for the rest of the vermin who stand with him.
And I have to say, again, about those who stand with Roy Moore: what does that say about THEM?
I think it should be asked again and again: WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT THEM?
Particularly when we have quotes - in writing, on the record, from some of their leading lights, declaring their allegiance to AN AVOWED AND ON-THE-RECORD INTERNATIONAL ADVERSARY, Vladimir Putin, if they had to choose between Putin and a widely-respected, award-winning industry-leading American newspaper. OR they're willing to blaspheme the Holy Family to justify their "opinion."
So far, much to their eternal discredit, Moores Republican backers in Alabama appear to be sticking by him. Paul Reynolds, the Republican national committee man from Alabama, told The Hill that he doesnt trust The Washington Post: If Ive got a choice of putting my welfare into the hands of Putin or The Washington Post, Putin wins every time. State auditor Jim Ziegler is willing to admit the charges are true, but he doesnt care. He cited the Biblical story of Mary and Joseph Mary was a teenager and Joseph was an adult carpenter. They became parents of Jesus and concluded, Theres just nothing immoral or illegal here. Maybe just a little bit unusual.
THIS is why I don't feel ANY obligation at all to "understand" what the grievances of these assholes might be. I already understand them completely and perfectly. They're nothing but apostates and traitors.
No! Don't tell me he fell in with that scumbag Cohen!
This is a terrific read!
It's about time somebody started asking these questions?
Whats it going to take, Alabama voter?
Whats it going to take before you realize that your family values, my-sin-is-better-than-your-sin, conservative voting approach has produced a state government filled with lying, cheating, sexually assaulting, money-grubbing criminals who have embarrassed us countless times, and on top of everything, mismanaged the hell out of this place?
Thanks for finding this one, highplainsdem!
Holy Cow, H2O Man - this is a revelation! THIS in particular:
Moore convinced himself that two sentences from Romans, found in chapter 7, lines 17 and 20, identify the real cause: It is no longer I who am doing this evil, but the sin living in me. ...And if I do what I don't want to do, it is not I who do it, but the sin which lives in me. The more out of touch Moore becomes with the reality of his own disgusting self, the more those Feature 1 ideas convince him that it is his role to become a modern-day prophet from the Old Testicle. And, indeed, we see how that delusional self-concept a man who claims the moral authority to speak for God, and to judge others has translated into his behaviors throughout his adulthood.OMG! I have been known to use a couple of Scripture passages to illustrate a point, but I never ran across Romans 7! Never got that far. You get as far as Paul's 1 Corinthians and you can easily wind up spending your entire academic career studying just that. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the quote in Romans is the source of justification for not taking responsibility For. What. One. Did. ! The Gospel of Blame-Game. That sounds like what a little kid does - who develops for him/herself an imaginary friend. Every time he/she misbehaves, it really wasn't him/her misbehaving. The imaginary friend did it!
Excellent, thought-provoking, and highly illuminating essay, H2O Man!
Yep, but he's doomed to keep having to say goodbye to his hair for the rest of his life.
As it dwindles... S-L-O-W-L-Y sinking below the horizon... Into nothingness...
Karma, maybe.
He's gotta live with that never-ending forehead forever. It looks like a map of the Sahara Desert. Big, broad, bleached, and barren.
Welcome to DU, Shadowsmith!
This is great to know! You learn something new here every day.
An absolute abomination!
Talk about taking the name of Our Lord in vain! Seems to me that's about as big an abomination as there is.
That's pretty doggone profound.
Quite the confessional. Not making any excuses. And by Jove he SHOULDN'T!
I'm just amazed that this issue has gotten any traction at all. That it's being discussed openly. That so many women are coming forward - shit, I don't know ANY women who haven't had something icky and unwanted happen to them, including myself. I can't think of one who hasn't. And that some of them are finally being believed...
We're not over that one, either. But I'm noticing an evolution here - where the immediate gut reaction when a woman comes forward about this is NOT guaranteed to be "what was she wearing?" or "what did she do to bring this on?" There's still some blame-the-victim shit going on, but it's no longer the across-the-board "amen chorus". Now, more of these episodes are being taken a LOT more seriously.
