Well done, niyad!

I hate it, too, when somebody treats the employees like shit. They already get paid shit. They shouldn't have to take abuse as well.

And I'm reminded of that ol' cliche - "elections have consequences." And that goes double for the deplorables. I'm having a VERY difficult time "understanding" them, as I'm often told I must do. Nobody held a gun to their heads and ordered them to vote for him. The truth was all out there. His lousy track record (on so many fronts) was out there on the record. The choice was glaringly obvious. And they went the wrong way. Willingly. Even eagerly, including those we tried to warn - that it would utterly screw THEM IN PARTICULAR! They believed the lies and the bullshit. So that's what they get now. And they will reap the whirlwind (and the killer tornado, and the Category 5 hurricane, and the 8.1 earthquake, and the Ebola epidemic - for which they'll very likely lose their health care).

Hope they're happy...

"Put on a happy face..." NOT.

Reminds me of video clips showing her at the inauguration. He turns around toward her and she breaks into a big smile. But as soon as he turns back away from her, her face noticeably falls, into a very visible look of unhappiness. Kinda like this photo of them seated together.

Welcome to DU, DDySiegs!

I don't live there either, otherwise I'd be there for that march, too.

Management MUST be shown that there will be consequences for its actions. I already tune away when Greta's on. I'm starting to do likewise when Nicolle Wallace is on. Scarborough in the mornings? Meh - I don't even bother. Besides, too early for me here in the Pacific time zone. If that repulsively smug Hugh Hewitt is installed on the weekends, I'll be walking my dog more extensively and then turning to Food Network.

Welcome to DU, LessAspin!

WHOA! Those districts certainly were drawn - um - uh - "creatively."

I'm one who sometimes appreciates a plain ol' straight-line grid. Especially in cases like this.

That was my first question.

Yep - from the CNN story:

Two districts were at issue and the court split differently on its votes. In District 1, the legislature increased black voting age population from 47.6% to 52.65%. The court struck that map 8-0. The black majority voting population was also increased in District 12 from 43.7% to 50.66%. The court struck that map down 5-3.

Justice Neil Gorsuch didn't participate because he was not on the bench when the case was heard.

It STILL would have been voted down even if he had been able to vote on it. At best, that second map would have earned a 6-3 vote. At worst it would have been 5-4, so it still would have been struck down.

Beat me to it!

My other answer is: The Dog. When he comes on, time to take her out for a walk. The crap that comes out of her is infinitely preferable than the crap that comes out of his mouth.

More like misleader of the free world.

And it's a damn shame so many have bought into this shit.

Welcome to DU, LBM20!

MESSAGING. YES. ABSOLUTELY.

Sorry to shout, but I don't know how else to make it clear that this is our biggest problem! MESSAGING!!! As superficial as it seems and feels, we've got to do that better.

And make damn sure we vote, and we make sure everybody we know votes. There are MORE of us than there are of that other tribe. We can turn this around in 2018 if only we all get out there and vote!

Uh-oh...

Hmmm... didn't work very well in Nebraska recently. His endorsement is not always golden. At least when the available fan base isn't big enough to overcome the enemy troops who use him as a rallying cry for their side.

Bernie Sanders may be the most popular political figure in the United States, but his involvement in this week’s mayoral race in Omaha was termed “a colossal mistake” by a former Democratic mayoral staffer and political scientist. Even though the Vermont senator spoke at a rally for Heath Mello, the Democratic candidate was beaten by close to seven points by Republican incumbent Jean Stothert, in what was officially a nonpartisan race.

(snip)

According to University of Nebraska professor Paul Landow, Sanders’s attempts to give the Democrats one of their first significant wins of the Donald Trump presidency were spectacularly ill-conceived.

“Why do you bring an ultraliberal into a moderate city to campaign for a moderate candidate for mayor?” Landow was quoted as saying by the Omaha World Herald Thursday. “Bernie Sanders is not going to do anything to expand your base.”

If you're working in a DEEP RED district, sometimes you have to go a little slower. Those DEEP RED voters will likely not be swayed by someone like Bernie. May even give them more motivation to get out there and vote against his candidate.

If we're going to use Bernie Sanders, and he definitely can be an asset in some places, we have to use him judiciously. I don't think it's very wise to send him in where Dems don't have a realistic chance to win - like a DEEP RED area. Seems to me it would be FAR BETTER to work on the wobblers - use him all over the place in purple states. Use him all over the place where trump won by maybe a single point, or where there's a CON representing a blue district or state, or an area where Hillary won.

DO NOT squander him. Send him where it's realistically flippable and maybe he's exactly the one who can push it over into the blue column.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
