Great essay, davidthegnome!

True beauty is not necessarily what's on the surface.

Definitely this^^^!

Thank you California Peggy for keeping us updated!

President Obama.

And the Clintons. There are quite a few of 'em, actually. John Lewis would definitely be on the list. So would Elizabeth Warren. I've met Howard Dean (WUNNNNderful!), Jerry Brown and my Congressman, Henry Waxman. Saw him at a local restaurant recently - which was very cool! We thanked him for all he's done on our behalf, and for being a VERY capable representative. I'd also like to meet Debbie (Wasserman Schultz) - and give her a piece of my mind. Tell her to get her head out of the damn Beltway and start powering us up at the state level the way Howard Dean did.

This is terrific, A HERETIC I AM!

Like it a lot! I thoroughly enjoy living here, too, and built a second home here very quickly as soon as I got a taste of the fresh air and wonderful climate! I've lived here ever since I found myself lost in a very big, very scary, very desolate desert fairly early in 2001, and needing to find a safe haven. Found it here, in a warm and welcoming community with lots of friends, great thinkers, analysts, activists, wonderful writers, researchers, and teachers - BEST research library I've ever found, anywhere! No murder rate, no guns in our faces, no school massacres, very low cost-of-living, the weather tends to be consistently great - AND we have one great rock band! I doubt I'll be moving out, anytime soon.

Well, I hope those African Americans who flocked to the polls in greater numbers to help him out

will show up again in November - to teach him a lesson.

But I think this is spot-on, as far as your analysis, herding cats. I'd bet that most Dems who went out to vote for cochran did so ONLY because a teabagger in that seat would be even worse than what they're already familiar with, from cochran. Better the devil you know - indeed. I'd bet that was what was at work here.

With another teabagger in the Senate, we'd never hear the end of the gloating and the exaggerated misrepresentation that ted cruz would be spinning. It'd give him a wing man, and that's the LAST thing we want! Especially since there are those who characterize mcdaniel as even a bigger ding-dong than ted cruz is. A choice between "stinks" and "fuckin' sucks." I guess "stinks" takes it, then. Poor Mississippi! You get shit for choice here. Either way, you lose. And the rest of us do, too, unfortunately.

DAMMIT, if EVERY DEM WHO COULD - DID VOTE - we'd have this thing. Okay maybe not in Mississippi, but there are dozens of other states where we could put the bad guys AWAY for a good long time.

June 28, 2014

So did I!

Granted, they'll call on the kochs and out-raise us yet again, but this at least sends a message. What I'm HOPING is that it doesn't just motivate Dems to donate - but to get off their asses and VOTE!!!! If ALL OF US who could - DID, we'd turn it all blue - Capitol Hill, and every statehouse and state legislature up for grabs. If we don't, then frankly, we deserve what our apathy and/or laziness will get.

I think we should jam that "pro-life" title down their throats.

If you're for executions, then YOU'RE NOT "PRO-LIFE."

Now THERE was a magnificent woman!

She was so impressive, had so much gravitas, that EVERYBODY shut up and stepped out of her way when she took the floor. She made you want to stand up straight and make sure your posture was picture-perfect and that your shirttail was tucked in. She made you want to use and embrace perfect grammar and diction. She was the most commanding, articulate, powerful orator I've heard speak in a long time - male OR female. Brilliant, imposing, compelling, and she would have made one humdinger of a great President. Every speech - EVERY doggone one of 'em - would have been an event! She had NO equals.

Sometimes it's the only thing that works. Sometimes it's the only strategy left.

Haven't we tried everything else? We've tried being patient with them. Reaching out to them. Talking to them. Compromising (HIDEOUS option, in my opinion). Trying to meet them halfway. Extending a hand (only to have them spit in it). Trying to reason with them. Presenting worthy arguments to them. Doesn't seem to get through, does it? What would Occupy have done if all they did was try to talk it out. The fact that they CAMPED, sat in, stayed for days - even weeks, in the cold (!), put their asses on the line, only THAT was enough to even start seeing comments about how they changed the conversation and brought some new views to it. Only THAT got any traction, and even that was not enough. But they sure didn't need guns - the way the cliven bundy bozos did. And at least those jackasses had warm weather. Hell, the people in Wisconsin sure didn't. The people Occupying Wall Street in the dead of a New York winter didn't. Sometimes we have to resort to our own types of pressures. Notice - none of them are assaultive or life-threatening in nature, EVER.

It always struck me that OUR side tends to want to chain itself to trees or chain-link fences. OUR side tends to want to sit in somewhere, in somebody's office or office hallway, or in and around railroad tracks. OUR side tends to want to go on hunger strikes. OUR side tends to want to stand in groups holding candles and signs - and not guns or massacre machines. NOT a firearm in sight (and very likely, no concealed-carry either). THEIR side comes fully armed and threatening and in-yer-face, shoving their damn guns and assault weapons and other such monstrous personal hand-held massacre-machines in your field of vision, disrupting your sense of safety and a peaceful day at the fast-food joint or coffee place or big-box store. THEIR side crawls along underneath your legs and tries to trip you and interfere, or drag big crucifixes behind them and into your face. THEIR side shouts accusations at you, gets literally IN your face, in your way, physically blocking you from moving! THEIR side tends to assault your vision with gruesome, lurid, bloody signs shoved in your face, violating your space and your right to privacy. They threaten you with great bodily harm and even death, circulating your names and addresses and other personal information in public, online, showing where your house is and where your kids go to school - and what their names are! That's what THEY do.

These people are vile. Beneath contempt. They need a taste of their own medicine. If SCOTUS thinks this is no big deal, no harm-no foul, then maybe they need to see what size deal it is. Even with our side doing it, they're in no physical danger anyway. 'Cause that's just not us. That's the CONS' and baggers' thing. Dems, liberals and progressives don't operate that way.

Another kind of evidence that both sides are NOT the same, btw. No difference between the two? Um... guess again.

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
