calimary's JournalThere are some lower-tier folks who should have folded their tents already.
Some folks like John Delaney and Tim Ryan and Marianne Williamson are realistically and in all practicality non-starters. Bill DeBlasio too.
John Delaney rightfully should have given up after Elizabeth Warren ate his lunch and dinner at that debate. He should have closed things down the next morning. Could have stepped away with head held reasonably high. By now, though? Hes nothing but damaged goods. And he has less charisma than a used kitchen sponge.
And we HAVE TO do that. We have no options. We HAVE TO keep fighting.
Whenever I start feeling overwhelmed and just want to say SCREW it, I force myself to remember one thing:
That is PRECISELY what the bad guys want. They WANT us discouraged and despondent, giving into our fears and dreads, and maybe the result of all their thoughts n prayers: that many of us will just throw up our hands, say the hell with it ALL, and give up. And stay home on Election Day. So they can step up, show up, and run the table (having cleared the field, as it were).
THATS the bottom line. And THATS why I WONT give up and stay home - thus handing the bad guys yet another in a continuing series of un-earned runs, freebies, and giveaway games. Cause thats what they want and dearly hope for. Well, sorry/NOT sorry! I AINT PLAYIN!
WOW! Quote of the week!
I look for them as our Indivisible Research & Writing team puts the weekly Call To Action email for our members and friends. The email always starts with an Inspirational Opening.
I just found THIS weeks Inspirational Opening. For sure.
You expressed this so beautifully - poetically, even.
A child of the troubles - really helps bring it home. Beautifully written. Points out the sheer human poignancy of the issue.
Ancestry.com tells me I have Irish heritage too, even though Im an adoptee. So I get this, even though several degrees removed.
Dammit - WHY do we need walls and hard borders and the hard feelings? I can get pretty Pollyanna-ish about this (WHY? WTH??? Riffing off Rodney King: cant we just get along?). But seriously, why cant we?
The walls n borders issue certainly is making a mess in America right now. It makes me so sad. I can only guess how this must hurt you deep down within your heart. Im so sorry. It makes me hurt for the people in ALL of Ireland. Yearning for peace and tranquility in their beautiful, storied homeland and now looking ahead to a very realistic probability of a return to more woe, more disruption, division, destruction, and bloodshed. (Especially when that woeful past is so well-documented and well within memory.) I imagine many there might be thinking what many women here do every day in America about Roe v Wade: I thought we had this SETTLED!
I wish we could all just get along. Were told to share our toys in pre-school. And look how far that carries, eh? When can humans really, actually, seriously, start to grow up?
Im so sorry. I, too, thought we had this settled.
I wouldn't call it playing hardball when you go almost literally in your knees to Moscow Mitch
and beg him to let you off to go campaign a few days early in e change for an extra 15 free judges.
Schumer can go suck it. AND resign. Ive lost all respect for him. If he really gave a damn about his caucus hed use his wiles to undercut, subvert, short-sheet, and screw Mass Murder Mitch at every possible turn. Rather than lying down in total supplication.
What On Earth were they thinking?????
I have never been able to understand this weird-ass phobia.
And it doesnt count that they finally took down the video. They STILL put it up, had it made, paid for it, and some asshole(s) approved it.
For SHAME!
Kicking this. It's good advice.
This!!!
I am so sorry you DUers who served your country have to
witness such a slap in the face.
You and EVERYONE whos sacrificed like this and put their lives on the line for our country do NOT deserve this.
Not for even one nanosecond.
This is hideous ugly.
Then we have to help make republi-CONS a dirtier word.
One would think their own actions would be enough to accomplish that, but they still need quite a few extra pushes.
