Beautiful!

September 3, 2018

Isn't he the same guy who excoriated President Obama for an occasional round of golf,

assuring us all that he’d be way too busy working? Round the clock, almost? Seven days a week? Not like that Obama fellow.

Well if there’s one thing he ISN’T - it’s the kind of hardworking, dedicated, totally adult, focused, respectable, dignified, and scandal-free chief executive that Barack Obama was, and STILL IS.

Pretty!

Capitol Hill Gazette. Five dead.

Not strictly trump-related. But certainly yet another in an accelerating series of armed nutcases deciding the need to take matters into their own hands.

I heard that same lame-ass crappy excuse, word-for-word, from my best friend.

“Oh I want a woman president. Just not THAT woman.”

Such absolute card-carrying CRAP. We HAD a superior female candidate. EPICALLY superior. The best EVER. She was SO good she towered over ALL the men who flattered themselves into thinking they were worthy of the Oval Office. And she got thoroughly trashed, smeared, and screwed out of her rightful win.

We won’t see a candidate that well-qualified, with that combination of brilliance, ingenuity, and experience at the highest levels ever again, probably in our lifetimes (those of us on the elder side, that is). I certainly don’t expect to see any comparable candidate, much less a comparable female candidate, in my lifetime. She was robbed. As were we all.

That’s lost. And sometimes the very thought of it leaves me feeling crushed.

This is lovely!

I was thinking about the McCain funeral. And President Obama’s remarks. And the excerpts from his eulogy that detail and denounce the current - um - “situation” we’re in. With dignity, maturity, and real class.

In times of trouble (like THESE, NOW) We instinctively turn back to him. We return to his stirring words, his calm and reassuring demeanor, the admirable example he STILL sets. I’m so glad he’s still around, still vigorous, still ready to speak up and speak out, still there to remind us of the forgotten better angels we should again be led by, and the bright star of genuine democracy that’s still there to set our sights by - despite the gloomy cloud cover trying to obscure that star from view.

And notice: it’s his clip that’s played more frequently than dubya’s. I think that’s because the contrast become quite obvious - that the goofy, still-lightweight dubya can’t comfort us the way Obama still can. Barack Obama is still the one with the gravitas. He’s STILL the role model. He’s STILL the adult in the room on whom we can still rely. He’s STILL the one who is the most presidential and the one who sets the example of what a President should be. He’s STILL the Comforter-in-Chief. The only clips getting more replays are the more pointedly critical ones by Meghan McCain.

And greed is a sacrament.

I keep myself busy on Indivisible activities.

Whatever is is that we can do, small and bigger, to fight, thwart, dilute, degrade, and otherwise hobble, frustrate and uktimately reverse the bad guys.

I’m sticking with the resistance. We’re working on it.

VOTE, Dammit! November gives us a chance to shove big sticks into their spokes. And despite very probably continued interference by the Russians, we CAN beat them with our numbers. If we overwhelm them at the polls, there’s no way they can overcome that big of a blockade. WE’RE the ones with the majority numbers. WE have the numbers.

IF ONLY we resolve to USE THEM!!!

About calimary

Female. Retired. Wife-Mom-Grandma. Approx. 30 years in broadcasting, at least 20 of those in news biz. Taurus. Loves chocolate - preferably without nuts or cocoanut. Animal lover. Rock-hound from pre-school age. Proud Democrat for life. Ardent environmentalist and pro-choicer. Hoping to use my skills set for the greater good. Still married to the same guy for 40+ years. Probably because he's a proud Democrat, too. Penmanship absolutely stinks, so I'm glad I'm a fast typist! I will always love Hillary and she will always be my President.
