Fellow caucasians---can you give me a minute?

I suspect that many of you, being DUers, have spent much of the past three and a half years focused on what amounts to an existential threat. Day after day outrage after outrage; the Trump regime has had us either pissed off or scared
stiff. And, without realizing it, we have gradually ratcheted up our stress level to the point where our composure is often close to snapping---like a rubber band that has been stretched to just short of its breaking point.

It seems to me that we are now experiencing just a small taste of the fear and desperation people of color have had to deal with every day of their lives. Never being allowed to relax or feel safe has to be an emotional burden that most of US can't really imagine. But, we can do our best to empathize and understand.

I think I am made of pretty stern stuff, but I am not at all sure I could survive as a black man.

I hope this is not considered presumptuous. It is just what I think. No special knowledge is claimed.

Seriously, if someone points a real but not loaded pistol at you---or even a realistic "toy"

pistol---, that constitutes an assault and you are legally entitled to defend yourself against the perceived threat.

So, now imagine that this same person---without a mask of any kind--- confronts mask-wearing you in a checkout line and repeatedly crowds you in violation of social distancing. Then, when you ask them to back up, they refuse, ridicule you for wearing a mask and start intentionally coughing at you.

I'm sure there are several ways to handle that situation.

This will date me: "We-l-l-l-l, you can call me Don or you can call me John---or you can

call me Donny or you can call me Johnny--- or you can call me Don-John or you can call me John-Don---but ya doesn't hafta call me Mr. President!

We rednecks have a way of describing how Trump looked when he got off Marine One

at the White House last night: like he'd been "rid hard and put away wet!"

Horsemen will understand.

If you were trying to slay a monster---say, a vampire like Count Dracula---you would be

well advised not to underestimate his resilience or the power of pure evil. You would want to do anything and everything that might might permanently remove the menacing blood-sucker from your village.

So, if you had the capability, you would dump him out of his coffin-bed into the mid-day sun, shoot him with a silver bullet, hang a garlic necklace on him, press a crucifix onto his forehead AND----drive a stake through his heart. In short, you would take nothing for granted until you had watched him implode into a pile of dust and the wind had strewn that dust far and wide.

This is offered simply as a discussion of how one might deal with a fictional bogeyman, but if anyone believes it might have a political application, they are welcome to think of it in that way.

Though it did not carry the day, has there ever been a better closing argument?

There was no earthquake in Oklahoma last night.

That was just Trump's lower jaw hitting the floor after he peeked out and saw ALL THOSE EMPTY SEATS!

Let's not let this slide or get lost in the shuffle! Trump just admitted that he ordered

his people to "slow down" Covid 19 testing so we wouldn't find so many cases of infection! That means HE KILLED PEOPLE with his self-centered ignorance!

That alone should be cause for impeachment and conviction or even removal under the 25th Amendment!

What else do we need in the way of EVIDENCE that this sick and twisted SOB must go?

Dateline, Tulsa, OK: As Donald Trump layed egg after egg before a tepid and much

smaller than expected rally crowd at the arena, Secret Service personnel were seen unloading several boxes of "Industrial Strength" Depends from an unmarked black Escalade and hurriedly transferring them up the walkway and into Air Force One.

Some days---and this is one of them---I despair that we, the sane, reasonable, tolerant, thinking

majority are being sucked under by the vortex of mean-spirited ignorance being instigated by Trump and implemented by the ignoramuses who proudly support him.

There is little doubt that the Trump rally in Tulsa tomorrow will prove to be a "superspreader" eventually. The idiots---and I make no apology for using that term---who attend this Klan gathering as Corona virus cases spike in Tulsa will return to their home towns afterward and at least some will take a fresh crop of viruses with them. And, some of their family members and neighbor's and coworkers, people who self-isolated, wore their masks and practiced social distancing when they had go out in public, will be infected. And, some of them will die.

Why?

Because the idiots have figured out that, like spoiled children, they don't have to do a damn thing they don't want to because that's how Trump behaves and he has encouraged them to do as he does. Why should they follow the rules and obey the laws? Trump doesn't and he never pays a price.

So we, the sane majority that just wants to live and let live and do our jobs and raise our kids and do our best to love each other, will pay the tab for the parties and games and rallies that we were smart enough not to attend.

That "vortex of ignorance" I mentioned above? That may just be the drain we're circling.
