Something Congresswoman Greene may want to consider

We all know how Marjorie Taylor Greene just suggested that people from Democratic-leaning states who move to Republican-leaning states should be temporarily barred from voting.

I live in Idaho. For many years we have been besieged by people moving up here from California. The people moving here are definitely NOT Democrats. They're right-wing extremists, and I don't use that term lightly: in the four most northern counties of Idaho (Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai and Shoshone) the county Republican Central Committees are now officially aligned with the John Birch Society. In the 1970s, North Idaho's political stance was similar to Bill Clinton's - what we will describe as "pragmatic centrism." Today's climate has gone so far to the right Barry Goldwater would have been seen as a leftist. In the last city council election the censorship of books in the Coeur d'Alene Public Library was an issue...and the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee hinged their endorsement on candidates' agreeing to do it.

Idaho wouldn't look like it does now politically if the people who moved here from California couldn't vote.

I have a question about Elizabeth Holmes

Is it possible that Ms. Holmes thought her company’s machine could be made to do what she was claiming it could? And if so, will she be able to escape prosecution by claiming she was led on by the treachery of others?

Do not buy an ST-210 mug press. Just don't.

My project for 2022 is to monetize my substantial photo library. After doing some market analysis, I decided my best chance of success would be to buy the equipment needed for dye sublimation printing and print mugs, mousepads etc. for sale on Etsy. (When I explained what I was doing to my boss, he thought it would be a line of products we could sell to our own customers...so this is going to be a pretty sweet deal. We'll take customer graphic files, put them on mugs, I sell the mugs to the company who then marks them up and sells them to our customers.)

So, here's what I got.

First, the printer. I decided on an Epson SureColor F170, which prints 8.5 x 11 - plenty of room for two mugs, a mousepad, two phone cases or a t-shirt transfer. I'm really happy with it. In concept you can buy an Epson eco-tank printer from Staples and use Epson dye-sub ink in it, but by the time you add the price of the printer and the $80 worth of ink you need to buy the F170 is cheaper.

I bought a Dahle 552 paper cutter. I've always liked rotary trimmers because they're safer than guillotine trimmers, and this one is especially nice.

Then I bought the ST-210 mug press, which you need to transfer the print to the mug. The process is pretty simple: stick the mug with the print wrapped around it into a press heated to 400 degrees and apply some pressure. The heat turns the solid ink on the page to a gas, the pressure forces the gas into the coating on the mug...leave it in there three to four minutes, and you have a finished mug.

The problem is the ST-210 mug press won't go past 332 degrees no matter what you do, and that's not nearly enough heat for sublimation. If you run heat-transfer vinyl you cut on your Cricut it will work fine, but for what I'm doing...not so much.

To solve the problem, I replaced it with a genuine Geo Knight DK3D made-in-Massachusetts mug press. That thing will go way beyond 400 degrees if you need to and it's got a larger heater so the temperature will be more stable. It will do the job.

How to recognize this press: it's got two handles and it says "Mug Machine" on the control panel. There are about eight Amazon sellers pushing the same machine.

Am I a terrible person?

When I heard about the Fox News Christmas Tree Burning, the first thing I thought was, “could someone at Fox News have paid a homeless guy to set it on fire so they could ‘prove’ there’s a War on Christmas?”

Former Broncos great Demaryius Thomas dies at 33

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32834405/former-denver-broncos-wr-demaryius-thomas-33-found-dead-home-police-say

Strangely enough, this one wasn’t from football. In 2019 he was driving 70 in a 30 zone, lost control and crashed his car. He’d been having severe seizures ever since.

In 2015 President Obama pardoned Thomas’ mother, who was doing 20 years on a non-violent drug conviction. The next year, President Obama pardoned his grandmother, who was doing two life terms on a drug trafficking conviction. His mom was able to attend Super Bowl 50 because of our great president, and see in person her son’s team beat the Carolina Panthers by 14 points.

Ammon Bundy believes running for governor counts as community service

https://www.registerguard.com/story/news/2021/12/03/ammon-bundy-campaigning-idaho-governor-counts-court-ordered-community-service/8860375002/

Ammon Bundy, the non-Republican currently running for Idaho governor who couldn't do his job if elected because he's been permanently trespassed from the Statehouse, was sentenced to 40 hours community service over his antimask protest event from last year. He has recently written a letter to the courts claiming his campaigning for governor should count as community service.

Personally, I'd find the son of a bitch in contempt of court and give him a month in the cooler, but that's one of the reasons they won't make me an Idaho judge.
