Trump weekend rallies in Nevada canceled

Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal

President Donald Trump’s two rallies planned for this weekend have been canceled because of in-person meeting restrictions imposed by Gov. Steve Sisolak, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed.

Events slated for Saturday at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Sunday at McCarran International Airport were canceled, the source said. The reason given was coronavirus restrictions imposed by Sisolak’s office.

Trump was also scheduled to hold a fundraiser during his Nevada visit, although details of that event were unknown.

Earlier Wednesday, Adam Laxalt, the co-chairman of Trump’s Nevada effort, tweeted the news of the cancellation.

We only rely on authoritative and trusted data sources. Authoritative data sources include the U.S. Census, HHS, CDC, CMS, and public health departments. Trusted data sources are limited to USAFacts, COVID Tracking Project, Johns Hopkins CSSE, and our own GISCorps/Coders Against COVID testing location dataset. By the way, there's ANOTHER part to the Woodward book...

-- Mattis is quoted as saying Trump is "dangerous," "unfit," has "no moral compass" and took foreign policy actions that showed adversaries "how to destroy America." After Mattis left the administration, he and Coats discussed whether they needed to take "collective action" to speak out publicly against Trump. Mattis says he ultimately resigned after Trump announced he was withdrawing US troops from Syria, "when I was basically directed to do something that I thought went beyond stupid to felony stupid."

-- Woodward writes that Coats and his top staff members "examined the intelligence as carefully as possible," and that Coats still questions the relationship between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. "Coats saw how extraordinary it was for the president's top intelligence official to harbor such deep suspicions about the president's relationship with Putin. But he could not shake them."

-- Woodward reports that Trump's national security team expressed concerns the US may have come close to nuclear war with North Korea amid provocations in 2017. "We never knew whether it was real," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is quoted as saying, "or whether it was a bluff." But it was so serious that Mattis slept in his clothes to be ready in case there was a North Korean launch and repeatedly went to the Washington National Cathedral to pray.

-- Trump boasted to Woodward about a new secret weapons system. "I have built a nuclear — a weapons system that nobody's ever had in this country before," Trump said. Woodward says other sources confirmed the information, without providing further details, but expressed surprise that Trump disclosed it.

"How is that not, at it's core, an abject portrayal of the public trust?"

Not the sort of question the WH Press Secretary usually has to answer.

'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flus," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly, according to legendary journalist Bob Woodward in his new book "Rage."

"This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7.

In a series of interviews with Woodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known. "Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu.

Trump's admissions are in stark contrast to his frequent public comments at the time insisting that the virus was "going to disappear" and "all work out fine."

DOSE OF JOE -- Sept 9

Friends -- see below for today's Dose of Joe.

Today, Joe Biden will travel to Warren, Michigan to deliver remarks on his plan to ensure the future is Made in America by all of America’s workers. You can watch HERE.

Yesterday, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris released a statement on ensuring a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine. In their statement they called on the administration to answer three questions to assure the american people that politics will not play a role in the approval and distribution of a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine.

Yesterday, Biden for President announced an expansion of the campaign’s footprint in Georgia and Colorado. In Georgia, hires include Georgia natives, current and former staff from the Georgia Democratic Party, Andrew Yang, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s campaigns, as well as various state legislative and ballot initiative campaigns across Georgia. And in Colorado, hires include alumni of President Barack Obama’s campaign, the Colorado State Legislature, and the Colorado Congressional Delegation.

As Americans continue searching for real leadership among a raging pandemic, economic crisis, and civil unrest, Biden for President released new ads: “Fresh Start,” “Sacred,” that paint a sharp contrast between Donald Trump’s America and Joe Biden’s vision for a path forward.

JOE’S SOCIAL MEDIA TO AMPLIFY

TWITTER

@JoeBiden: Just months ago, Donald Trump was planning to allow oil and gas drilling off the coast of Florida. Now, with 56 days until the election, he conveniently says that he changed his mind. Unbelievable. You don't have to guess where I stand: I oppose new offshore drilling.

@JoeBiden: Unlike Donald Trump, I'll listen to the experts and heed their advice — especially when it comes to matters of health and safety. You should expect nothing less from your president.

@JoeBiden: This economy may be working great for Donald Trump and his wealthy friends — but it's not working for the rest of America. It's time we change that.

ActBlue chief hails Biden's small-dollar donor operation

Politico

ActBlue executive director Erin Hill assessed in a new interview that the impressive fundraising numbers posted by Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in recent weeks are the result of his campaign “centering their grassroots” and homing in on small-dollar donors.

“I think if you’ve seen the numbers over the past few weeks, they’re doing really, really well in their digital work. And I think that that’s because they’re centering their grassroots,” Hill told host Anna Palmer in the latest episode of POLITICO’s Women Rule podcast published Wednesday.

Hill, who heads up the online donation platform preferred by thousands of Democratic candidates and organizations, pointed specifically to the Biden campaign’s rollout of California Sen. Kamala Harris as the former vice president’s running mate last month — a selection revealed in an afternoon text message to supporters.

“They announced that to their grassroots, first and foremost. That message didn’t go out to the media at first. It went out to their list,” Hill said. “And I think that they’re doing a great job of making sure that they’re helping people feel involved in that campaign, and they’re letting grassroots donors know that they need them.”

Trump running out of time to turn around 2020 campaign

Politico

The door isn’t closed on President Donald Trump’s reelection, but time is running short.

Labor Day once marked the start of concerted general-election campaigning, but it comes with a far greater sense of urgency this year for Trump. Because of coronavirus-related changes in election administration across the country, more Americans than ever are expected to cast their ballots early this year, whether by mail or in person.

And Trump, who didn’t get the election-changing convention bounce he hoped for, still trails Joe Biden by a significant margin among voters nationally — and by varying, but mostly smaller, gaps in many of the key battleground states. The latest updates to POLITICO’s Election Forecast point to a relatively stable political environment, and that's not what the president needs.

Even as turbulence pervades the news around politics, Biden is still staked to a lead and favored to win the presidency, as more than half a million absentee ballots were dropped in the mail last week in North Carolina and Minnesota prepares to open in-person early voting at the end of next week. Biden's edge is not overwhelming, though, given Trump’s advantages in the Electoral College.

Just another "Dems in Disarray story" by a "right wing rag". Nothing to see here.....
