She knows right now we need to hit the ground running and only someone who has been there before

Barbara Lee, for example, one of the most progressive congressional voices of the past 40 years has moved into a leadership role for the first time and has stated she is not seeking the Speakership. There are organizations that want to draft her, but she is smart and knows that there will be other opportunities. Indeed those organizations also know that, they are simply positioning her as a future candidate. She knows right now we need to hit the ground running and only someone who has been there before can do that

Eloquiently stated, Hermit.. Mahalo

Pelosi can be an excellent conductor, waving that gavel like a baton over an orchestra of House committees filled with seasoned artists and newbies galore. That's another reason for Pelosi; she knows how to get them all timed and tuned together.

Nancy has earned it..

Exactly, Hermit! What we've been saying..

and this article does it so brilliantly!

Ergo

Cashiering the author of a major political victory is an act of legislative malpractice and those promoting it like Reps. Seth Moulton and Tim Ryan ought to be disbarred. Sadly, a number of newly-elected Democratic members also promised to toss Pelosi over the side and now have to confront the fact that there is no plausible candidate to replace her. They are in the untenable position of trying to beat somebody with nobody, and worse, making it their first order of business.

The U.S. House of Representatives is a sprawling institution that has always required strong leadership and this reality may not yet have dawned on the newcomers. The speaker, although constitutionally the leader of the entire institution is also the leader of the party whose hand is prominent in everything from fund-raising to the assignment of members to committees and the shaping of legislation. If the new Democratic majority is not to stumble, it is imperative that its leaders know what they are doing. It is no place for on-the-job training.

Amen! Thank You, Hermit!

Exactly, DeminPennswoods..

The Only Credible Challenger to Nancy Pelosi's Speakership Just Endorsed Nancy Pelosi

The inclusion of Linda Sanchez on that list should have been the first clue that the people trying to rattle the most effective Speaker of the House in generations are pathetic power players. Linda Sanchez ended her pursuit of leadership in the Democratic caucus six days ago - after her husband was indicted on federal criminal charges in Connecticut. That Moulton was floating her name yesterday is indication that this group is not just behind the ballgame, they don’t even read the news.

Rep. Marcia Fudge has been out on the speaking circuits trying to accuse Pelosi of not paying attention to issues of race, but it will prove to be difficult as (a) Fudge has not yet declared her candidacy for speaker, and (b) black women in the House largely line up behind Pelosi, including the iconic Barbara Lee and Maxine Waters.

That leaves Karen Bass. In my judgment, Bass would have been the only credible challenger to Pelosi had she chosen to run. Not because of her gender or her race but because she was the only potential challenger who has had a job like this before. Karen Bass served as the 67th Speaker of the California State Assembly from 2008 to 2010, leading the legislature of the largest and most diverse state in the union.

omg! Just reading the title is

cracking me up! I haven't read Wonkette in awhile. It's so Awesome that all these really Cool Peeps are supporting Nancy.. like we just know through years of experience she'd be the best

Think I'll just c/p some nuggets here..

The anticipated electoral "blue wave" now feels more like a riptide: You don't see it coming and then it murders you

Okay!

It's no wonder architect of our success Nancy Pelosi has coasted to presumptive Speaker of the House with a pro forma closed-door vote. No, wait, that's Chuck Schumer.

The Senate is structured such that Democrats have to compete in solid red states to have a shot at the majority, and yet no one suggests ditching Schumer for Sherrod Brown, who is from the midwest and is fully conscious.

Burn!

Donald Trump and the GOP tried to frame the midterms as all about the nightmare scenario of Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Every dude with an opinion -- so like every dude -- suggested that Pelosi was a "threat" to Democrats' midterm chances

These people never seem to think that Mitch McConnell, who is less popular than leprosy, is a Republican albatross. Once the results were in, even conservative pundit Joe Scarborough admitted that Republicans ran hard against Pelosi and suffered their "worst loss since Watergate." Here endeth the lesson.

Abigail Spanberger, who defeated David Bratt in Virginia's 7th, said she won't support Pelosi because "we need new voices." That's you, lady. You're the new voice. We're all glad you're in DC now with your new voice. We don't need "new" voices as House Speaker. We need an effective voice that knows what the hell it's doing. I don't even want a "new voice" for my dental hygienist.

BaZing!!

Priceless! Thank You, Hermit!
