A supporter of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani holds a local newspaper with a headline that reads, “Historic call from a return flight,” upon his arrival from the U.S. near the Mehrabad airport in Tehran, Sept. 28

NYT: U.S. and Iran Agree to Speed Talks to Defuse Nuclear Issue

The long-fractured relationship between the United States and Iran took a significant turn on Friday when President Obama and President Hassan Rouhani became the first leaders of their countries to speak since the Tehran hostage crisis more than three decades ago.

In a hurriedly arranged telephone call, Mr. Obama reached Mr. Rouhani as the Iranian leader was headed to the airport to leave New York after a whirlwind news media and diplomatic blitz. The two agreed to accelerate talks aimed at defusing the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program and afterward expressed optimism at the prospect of a rapprochement that would transform the Middle East.….

The conversation was the first between Iranian and American leaders since 1979 when President Jimmy Carter spoke by telephone with Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi shortly before the shah left the country

Obamacare: A Fact or Fifty~ "..there will be a whole new world as far as health insurance..

is concerned."

1. Starting now and on October 1st you can go to healthcare.gov or call (1-800-318-2596; TTY: 1-855-889-4325) to compare options and select health coverage.

2. Thanks to ObamaCare, insurance companies must cover mental health, substance-use disorder, alcohol misuse screening, domestic violence screening, depression screening, etc. under “essential health benefits.”

3. ObamaCare will increase the need for doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, health information specialists, medical billers, medical sonography, home-care aides, lab technicians, etc. Now, that’s job creation!

4. 360,000 Small Businesses have taken advantage of the Small Business Healthcare Tax Credit to insure 2 million workers.

5. ObamaCare will change work and retirement by tilting power from employers to employees.

6. Young Americans (18-34) are eager to purchase health insurance through ObamaCare.

7. ObamaCare saved 6.8 million consumers $1.2 billion on health insurance premiums in 2012.

8. An easy and informative Twitter list of ObamaCare health insurance exchanges.

9. 63% of young adults who identify as Republicans enrolled in their parents health plans under ObamaCare.

10. Health insurance premiums will cost dramatically less under the ObamaCare exchange marketplace.

President Obama at the UN today.. Pics(heavy), Vid, and Transcript..

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Mr. President, Mr. Secretary General, fellow delegates, ladies and gentlemen, each year we come together to reaffirm the founding vision of this institution. For most of recorded history, individual aspirations were subject to the whims of tyrants and empires and divisions of race and religion and tribe were settled through the sword and the clash of armies.

The idea that nations and peoples could come together in peace to solve their disputes and advance a common prosperity seemed unimaginable. It took the awful carnage of two world wars to shift our thinking.

The leaders who built the United Nations were not naive. They did not think this body could eradicate all wars. But in the wake of millions dead and (inaudible) rubble, and with the development of nuclear weapons that could annihilate a planet, they understand that humanity could not survive the course it was on.

"Not Again".. President Obama Speaks at Memorial for Victims of Navy Yard Shooting

Text of Remarks..

“Once more we come together to mourn the lives of beauty and to comfort the wonderful families who cherished them. Once more we pay tribute to all who rushed towards the danger, who risked their lives so others might live. Once more our hearts are broken. Once more we ask why….

….. On Monday morning, these 12 men and women woke up like they did every day. They left home and they headed off to work. Gerald Read’s wife Cathy said, “See you tonight for dinner.” And John Johnson looked at his wife Judy and said what he always said whenever they parted, “Goodbye beautiful. I love you so much”…..

….. What Robert Kennedy understood, what Dr. King understood, what all our great leaders have always understood, is that wisdom does not come from tragedy alone or from some sense of resignation in the fallibility of man. Wisdom comes through the recognition that tragedies such as this are not inevitable, and that we possess the ability to act and to change, and to spare others the pain that drops upon our hearts. So in our grief, let us seek that grace. Let us find that wisdom. And in doing so, let us truly honor these 12 American patriots.”

At Congressional Black Caucus gala, Obama focuses on health care and gun control

A combative President Obama reiterated Saturday night that he refuses to negotiate with Congress over funding for his signature health-care law and warned that Republican lawmakers are threatening to plunge the nation back into a painful recession.

In a fiery speech at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation gala, Obama also renewed his push for sweeping new restrictions on firearms purchases. The president cited the recent rash of deadly shootings in his home town of Chicago, as well as Monday’s rampage at Washington’s Navy Yard, and exhorted lawmakers, “We’ve got to get back up and go back at it.”

Obama continued to blast House Republicans, charging that their “top agenda” was depriving millions of Americans of health-care coverage. On Friday, the House passed a plan that would avert a government shutdown and keep the government operating through mid-December but would also strip funding for the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.

“It is not going to happen,” Obama said of the defunding measure. “We have come too far. We’ve overcome far darker threats than those.”

Obama at times sought to belittle GOP lawmakers. “The most basic constitutional duty Congress has is to pass a budget,” said the president, a former constitutional law lecturer. “That’s Congress 101.”

"..sought to belittle"? PBO doesn't have to seek anything.. the gop just are "little".
