I was listening to my Governor trash Trump on Nicolle's show...

And, boy, is he pissed.

Fundamental lack of competence.

If 50 states have a problem, IT'S A NATIONAL PROBLEM!

He's known Trump for 50 years and Trump's just a bullshitting salesman.

And on, and on...

Earlier, I was listening to news on Sirius (who it was, who knows...) and heard some disturbing...

numbers.

Again, don't remember exactly what they were, but mentioned were three or four states where Republican registrations were vastly outpacing Democratic ones. No further details, like was it people moving, new registrations, people changing parties...

Whatever the reasons, though, this is disturbing. In my area, new Democratic registrations are outpacing Republican, but that's mainly because of kids and NYC people moving out here. Why it's different in PA could mean problems.

I was just reminded that in Michigan the second amendment allows people to carry guns into...

the state capitol building.

But the first amendment somehow does not allow people to carry signs into the capitol building.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Apologies if this "Nature" editorial has been posted, but if so here it is again...

It really can't be repeated enough...

https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-02797-1

Since Nature’s earliest issues, we have been publishing news, commentary and primary research on science and politics. But why does a journal of science need to cover politics? It’s an important question that readers often ask.

This week, Nature reporters outline what the impact on science might be if Joe Biden wins the US presidential election on 3 November, and chronicle President Donald Trump’s troubled legacy for science. We plan to increase politics coverage from around the world, and to publish more primary research in political science and related fields.

Science and politics have always depended on each other. The decisions and actions of politicians affect research funding and research-policy priorities. At the same time, science and research inform and shape a spectrum of public policies, from environmental protection to data ethics. The actions of politicians affect the higher-education environment, too. They can ensure that academic freedom is upheld, and commit institutions to work harder to protect equality, diversity and inclusion, and to give more space to voices from previously marginalized communities. However, politicians also have the power to pass laws that do the opposite.

I've been watching old Craig Ferguson youtubes and have uncovered this trivia...

The snake mug he was using was from the American International Rattlesnake Museum in Albuquerque. Mary McCormack found it and gave it to him.

Alas, their gift shop seems to only sell t-shirts online. So, when's a good time to visit Albuquergue?

Is there an "undo" function while posting? I just somehow lost three paragraphs of a post...

and in some word processors I can just click "undo" and they come back.

Any such thing here so I don't have to retype the whole thing?

Jason Miller was gishgallping on CNN when the satellite feed dropped-- even better...

than switching his mike off.

Is there a school where these assholes learn the art of talking over you and changing the subject?

We are not North Korea and we should know the precise state of the President's health...

Yes, in the past we were kept in the dark at times for "national security" but that was usually just a cheap excuse for not wanting to deal with it.

What horrors were waiting should the world have known that Woodrow Wilson actually got the flu, and then a stroke after that?

We know Trump is sick, and while all questions cannot be answered right now, all that can be should be.

After four years of bullshit, we simply cannot believe anything they say at this point-- this means they have to be especially transparent.
