In 1938, Nazis wanted to know if 'The Hobbit' author was Jewish. He responded with a high-class burn

In 1933, Adolf Hitler handed the power of Jewish cultural life in Nazi Germany to his chief propagandist, Joseph Goebbels. Goebbels established a team of of regulators that would oversee the works of Jewish artists in film, theater, music, fine arts, literature, broadcasting, and the press.

Goebbels’ new regulations essentially eliminated Jewish people from participating in mainstream German cultural activities by requiring them to have a license to do so.

This attempt by the Nazis to purge Germany of any culture that wasn’t Aryan in origin led to the questioning of artists from outside the country.

In 1938, English author J. R. R. Tolkien and his British publisher, Stanley Unwin, opened talks with Rütten & Loening, a Berlin-based publishing house, about a German translation of his recently-published hit novel, “The Hobbit.”

Privately, according to “1937 The Hobbit or There and Back Again,” Tolkien told Unwin he hated Nazi “race-doctrine” as “wholly pernicious and unscientific.” He added he had many Jewish friends and was considering abandoning the idea of a German translation altogether.

The Berlin-based publishing house sent Tolkien a letter asking for proof of his Aryan descent. Tolkien was incensed by the request and gave his publisher two responses, one in which he sidestepped the question, another in which he clapped back ‘30s-style with pure class.

Korea still has all it's weapons and no plans t get rid of them don't you?" Several other of his friends defended him and so I linked to several articles and the thread came to a screeching halt.

This is what kind of a box they live in. They have zero idea of the reality that is going on around them, only what Trump and other Trump loving people on FB feed them.

Rudy Giuliani recently told a friend that he expects Mueller’s report to be “horrific,” a person briefed on the conversation said (Giuliani did not respond to a request for comment). “You’re already hearing people speculate Trump could do a deal and resign.”

The White House did not respond to a request for comment.

Malcolm Nance says Syria could release 3,000 ISIS fighters when US pulls out

President Donald Trump likely hasn’t considered the blowback his withdrawal from Syria will have on the so-call global “war on terror.” One unintended consequence is that allies are holding 3,000 ISIS combatants and their families captive.

According to terrorism, intelligence, insurgency and torture expert Malcolm Nance, Syria has little interest in holding these combatants.



“If the United States withdraws, they will release them back to ISIS, because then their security is not — their worry is not ISIS,” Nance explained. “Their worry is a multi-divisional invasion by the Turkish army hoping to stamp them out of existence. This entire policy is madness. One quick little aside: Two years ago Donald Trump told TIME magazine the last book he read was my very large tome Defeating ISIS. Nowhere in there did I recommend we abandon our allies to our enemies in the region and to Vladimir Putin. I guess he didn’t get that message.”

He noted that the most significant problem is that no one knows what Trump agreed to in his conversation with Turkish President Erdogan. To make matters worse, any foreign leader Trump bows to could change the plain in a single call.

Just scrolled passed several new news articles about Trump doing something nuts

As I was scrolling passed and not clicking on them because it's like a fucking bottomless pit of insanity I had a moment of reflection and it made me feel so hopeless and disgusted that the level is sooooooo beyond the absurd! Every day there is not just one but SEVERAL stories about how psycho he is and his twitter escapades and just fucking madness and utter stupidity and self centered fuckery! My moment of hopeless reflection reminded me of the movie 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' and Trump is like every fucking one of those spoiled rotten kids rolled into one times 10000000000000!!!!!

At the beginning of the movie (which is like Trump the day he was elected) Wonka kind of freaks out when Augustus falls in his chocolate river after he was told he wasn't supposed to touch it because he was putting his hands in the river and then by the end of the movie Wonka is so used to the kids being fucked up spoiled brats, when they start fucking something up again, he is like, "Don't stop comeback" in the most defeated, exhausted sarcastic manor. I feel just like Willy Wonka in that movie! And we are only half way through the fucking movie!

This is like one fucking four year long Willy Wonka childish circus cluster fuck of epic proportions!
