Comedian John Oliver buys $15 million in medical debt; immediately forgives it

Edit: Didn't realize this was a year old. Someone just posted it on Facebook. Anyway, here it is again for anyone who missed it like I did.



NEW YORK (WCMH) — Comedian John Oliver says he bought the medical debt of nearly 9,000 people and forgave it on his TV show “Last Week Tonight”.

According to CNN, Oliver announced his giveaway on his HBO show Sunday night.

Oliver said his show created its own collection agency and paid $60,000 for $15 million in medical debt. The segment was during a scathing takedown of the debt-purchase industry.

In, what he calls TV history, Oliver forgave the debt of nearly 9,000 people in an unprecedented move that will begin the process of wiping it clean from people’s records.

Oliver says his move was worth double the value of Oprah Winfrey’s famous car giveaway.

I was just thinking that when Comey said he leaked the conversations with Trump so an independent counsel would be appointed it told me they were not fucking around. They want his head on a platter! He pissed off the wrong organization. If he has ever committed a crime in his life, they will be like Horton the Elephant checking every fucking pink flower for hundreds of miles! Sooner or later they are going to get this SOB for something. As Brooks from PBS said, Monica Lewinski came from an entirely different investigation that dragged on for years. I imagine someone like Trump is a Pandora's box of corruption and debauchery. Who knows what they will find.

Trump Selects McGruff The Crime Dog As FBI Director

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Finally selecting James Comey’s replacement as head of the department, President Donald Trump named McGruff the Crime Dog as FBI Director Wednesday morning.

The large, cuddly, anthropomorphic canine detective was announced as Comey’s replacement at a White House press conference.

“McGruff is a real nasty dog—just the kind of guy we need to help drain the swamp in Washington,” Trump told reporters. “Plus, he’s a big stuffed animal, so he won’t be investigating any of my alleged ties to Russia.”

“He’ll be taking a bite out of crime, believe me. The biggest bites around. I take big bites too. The best, really,” Trump added.

How about just setting up a day for it with cameras etc. Even it it's not "Official" if he didn't show up it would make him look bad. They should at least keep hounding him on it until he is blue in the face. Just be relentless.

After watching Desrshowitz, news sites put him on only to bring in conservative viewers

He argued until he was blue in the face that Trump's Muslim ban was legal. Said it with complete, unshakable confidence and that it would get right through the courts. Well, he was flat out wrong but the cons promoted videos of that like it was video of the second coming of Christ. Now his video's saying Trump can pretty much do whatever he wants under the Constitution, are on fire with the cons.

CNN, MSNBC etc. know this so he has one job. Come on, say EXACTLY what the cons want to hear and claim it came from a "liberal" then and go home. Those videos make conservatives curious about tuning into CNN and MSNBC to see if their home boy Desrshowitz is on so they can get their rocks off and raise advertising bucks for "liberal" news sites.
