Trump seeks to end heating assistance program for low-income people

Not a grain of compassion to this fucking piece of shit!

President Trump's 2019 budget seeks to cut all funding from a program that provides heating assistance subsidies to low-income families in cold-weather states. The administration's argument: the program is marred by fraud and unnecessary, the AP reports.

Why it matters: This is the second attempt by the Trump administration to end the program, and it’s likely the proposal will again face resistance from lawmakers. Last year, Congress ultimately appropriated $3 billion, or 90% of the program's funding. Supporters argue the elderly, disabled and others with fixed incomes desperately need the assistance.

Alt-right women are upset that alt-right men are treating them terribly

Sending Thoughts and Prayers to these women.

here's trouble brewing in the MAGA world, as prominent women in the "alt-right" are upset that white nationalists are being misogynistic towards them.

Women in the "alt-right" "are constantly harassed by low level anonymous trolls trying to put us in our place," self-described "Ethno Nationalist" Tara McCarthy wrote on Twitter Sunday, in a moment of revelation that was well-known to basically anyone else. "The ultimate goal seems to be to bully us off the internet."

Women in the Alt Right are constantly harassed by low status anonymous trolls trying to put us in our place.

Women of all ages, who do or don't have children, are harassed for various 'reasons'.

The ultimate goal seems to be to bully us off the internet.

Men in the Alt Right are going to have to decide whether they will continue to passively/actively endorse this behavior, or speak out against it.

If you want more women speaking publicly about ethno nationalism, I suggest you choose the latter.

— Tara McCarthy 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 (@TaraMcCarthy444) December 3, 2017

Guys, I'm not saying I can't take any trolling or harassment on the internet, *obviously* I can. I've probably had more of it than most of you will see in a lifetime, and I'm still here. Not going anywhere. I'm not stating the above solely for my own personal benefit. — Tara McCarthy 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 (@TaraMcCarthy444) December 3, 2017

The problem I'm stating here is not that 'there are trolls on the internet' but that people who proclaim to be on our side are trying to tear down women in our in-group. If you can't see why this is dysfunctional, I can't help you. — Tara McCarthy 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 (@TaraMcCarthy444) December 3, 2017

Have always loved this response from Obama on Gun Control

I just wish he had shot down the BS argument about Chicago which ALWAYS gets brought up by the Right Wing and is only a problem because Indiana has crappy gun laws and shady people just drive 5 miles from Chicago to East Chicago, Indiana or Gary, Indiana to buy a gun.

My 90 year old parents said they never had prayer in their schools

Wasn't that just something they had in southern states? I did a quick search on Google but didn't see anything right off hand. For anyone around before teacher lead prayer in school was outlawed in 1963, what was your experience?

By the way. My Dad grew up in Nevada and my Mom lived in a number of states growing up including MT, CO, ND, WI, AZ etc.

By the way! There is still plenty of prayer in schools today, right before every test.

Editing to add this:

Haven't Public Schools Always Had Prayer?
At the time the U.S. Supreme Court issued its 1962 and 1963 decrees against school-sponsored prayers and bible-reading, it is estimated religious observances were unknown in about half of the nation's public schools.

Anyone bringing up Chicago's high gun violence rate show them this

Snip:

For instance, an NPR fact check of the White House talking point noted that Chicago is close to the borders of two states — Wisconsin and Indiana — that have weak gun laws. A 2014 report from the city of Chicago noted that 60 percent of guns used to commit crimes in Chicago from 2009 to 2013 originated outside of Illinois, and Indiana and Wisconsin were two of the biggest sources of recovered guns.5 And Illinois is not alone.
