Convention Song For The 2016 GOP Convention
Mexico - 2016, a year of historical defeat of the PRI in state elections (Spanish)
The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) received the most devastating electoral blow in its history this June 5, in a democratic contest over the governorship of the states.
The party of president Enrique Peña Nieto lost 7 of 12 governorships in play and among them surrendered to the opposition four states it had governed in consecutive elections for 86 years; Durango, Quintan Roo, Veracruz, and Tamaulipas.
The PRI will cease to govern these last two states, the most important in the Gulf of Mexico and where a strong presence of organized crime has been reported for at least 10 years fighting over control of drug trafficking routes.
