Trump Humiliated And Forced To Cancel Meeting After Drug Companies Refuse To Show Up
Trump was forced to cancel a meeting with the nations five largest pharmaceutical companies after they refused to show up.
Politico reported:
No one is happy with Trumps executive order, but instead of coming to the White House to make their case to Trump, the drug companies think so little of Trump that they are blowing him off in a sure sign that they dont fear this president or any potential retribution from him.
Trumps power has diminished to such a degree that companies have gone from tripping over themselves to get some good publicity from one his tweets to not bothering to show up at the White House for a meeting.
There is no greater sign than a president is on his way to being voted out than when he is ignored.

Trump Humiliated And Forced To Cancel Meeting After Drug Companies Refuse To Show Up
Trump was forced to cancel a meeting with the nations five largest pharmaceutical companies after they refused to show up.
Politico reported:
A White House meeting with top pharmaceutical executives that President Donald Trump promised for Tuesday is off, five industry sources familiar with discussions told POLITICO. Three said the drug-pricing discussion was canceled because the major drug lobbies, reeling from Fridays cluster of executive orders on the topic, refused to send any members.
Drugmakers and Trump were slated to discuss an executive order, signed Friday but not yet released, that would order health officials to release a plan linking Medicare payments for certain medicines to lower costs paid abroad. The provision, known as a most-favored-nations rule, has been lambasted by the drug industry and some patient groups that say it would curb innovation and reduce drug access.

Herman Cain still hospitalized more than 3 weeks after COVID-19 diagnosis
Marisa Fernandez
Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is still in the hospital undergoing oxygen treatment more than three weeks after first being hospitalized with the coronavirus on July 2, according to an update from his Twitter account on Monday.
The big picture: The 74-year-old Cain, co-chair of Black Voices for Trump, attended President Trump's rally in Tulsa in June and did not wear a mask. Two days after he was said to have tested positive, Cain commented on a July 4 celebration at Mt. Rushmore, tweeting: "Masks will not be mandatory for the event, which will be attended by President Trump. PEOPLE ARE FED UP!"

"We know it's been a few days since we last gave you an update on the boss. But he is still in the hospital being treated with oxygen for his lungs. In the meantime, the doctors say his other organs and systems are strong.
"Re-strengthening the lungs is a long and slow process, and the doctors want to be thorough about it.
"We'd like him to be able to come home now, which is frustrating, but we're glad the doctors are being thorough and making sure they do the job right. Thank you for praying, everyone. Please keep doing it. He really is getting better, which means it is working."

360 Democratic delegates say they'll oppose party platform that does not include 'Medicare for All'
By Zack Budryk - 07/27/20 10:08 AM EDT
Nearly 400 Democratic delegates plan to oppose any party platform that does not include "Medicare for All," saying the coronavirus pandemic illustrates the urgency.
The pledge, signed by more than 60 delegates, predominantly Sanders supporters, notes that millions of Americans have lost their healthcare insurance because of those job losses at a time when healthcare is needed most and that the Democratic Party and their Platform Committee process has failed, to date, to incorporate a clear and progressive platform plank for Medicare-For-All for adoption by the 2020 National Convention.
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has made his opposition to Medicare for All clear, and the pledge comes as Sanders supporters have largely united behind Biden. Sanders endorsed Biden shortly after his withdrawal from the race. Two leftist advocacy groups, Progressive Democrats of America and RootsAction.org, announce their support of the petition Monday, with organizers expecting the petition to garner hundreds more signatures.

Nearly 400 Democratic delegates plan to oppose any party platform that does not include "Medicare for All," saying the coronavirus pandemic illustrates the urgency.
This pandemic has shown us that our private health insurance system does not work for the American people. Millions of people have lost their jobs and their health care at the same time, Judith Whitmer, a delegate for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) who chairs the conventions Nevada delegation, told Politico. Theres people leaving the hospital now with millions of dollars in medical bills. What are we going to do about that?

"Now you've got people on your air threatening our lives," Epshteyn complained. "You just had a caller call in and say shooting Trump supporters is right. Anybody should listen to what that gentleman just said and realize where Democrats are in this country."
"They are threatening our lives," he added. "It is disgusting, it's despicable and it's criminal. And that sounded like a threat against the president and his campaign and hope the Secret Service investigates."

"Sir, you want to cry about this Trump supporter that died," Sharon said. "I agree. I'm a Democrat, I think violence is awful."
She continued: "But what I also think is awful is that a 140,000 Americans are dead because this president and his inability to deal with a conflict."
The caller said that she was hoping and praying "that we do not see this man go into the Oval [Office], but we see him come out in an orange jump suit and shackles and chains."

Chris Wallace shuts down Steve Mnuchins lies on new stimulus bill: Republicans rejected this

Fox News host Chris Wallace reminded Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin that Republicans had rejected President Donald Trumps call for a payroll tax cut after the Trump administration official blamed Democrats.
During an interview with Mnuchin on Fox News Sunday, Wallace noted that Trump had recently threatened to veto a COVID-19 stimulus bill that did not include a payroll tax cut.
That now is gone from all the discussions, Wallace explained. Why did the administration cave on that so quickly?
Mnuchin immediately blamed the omission on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who are both Democrats.
The Democrats were not going to give us a payroll tax cut, the Treasury secretary opined.
Wallace interrupted: Sir, to be fair, it wasnt just Democrats. There were a number of Republicans who rejected this.

Opinion: Gassing Moms And Vets Does Not Win Elections
snip//
Instead of owning liberals, Trumps base owns him a man whose presidency is such a colossal failure that hes reduced to bragging about how well he did on a dementia screening test.
My conscience is clean and even if I should catch the virus tomorrow, Ill know I lived my best life.
Can his base say the same?
So here we are, Trump is gassing moms to scare a fictional group of suburban housewives into voting for him.
Hes banking on women being okay with moms being gassed if it means keeping their neighborhoods and property values lily white. Thats why aside from gassing women peacefully protesting, Trump decided to get rid of a fair housing rule he never really liked since the Nixon administration sued him over his racist housing policies.
And Trump is showing his love for vets by assaulting them, breaking bones and making bruises, while calling them anarchists. Everyone knows thats a sure-fire way to win votes.
While we are in our darkest moment, my faith remains in the people that I know are more interested in doing the right thing for all of American. Its about crawling out of this deep hole that Trump made and seeing the sunlight of America again after four years in the darkness of Magastan.

Judge denies Trump administration request to delay deadline to release migrants from ICE detention centers
By J. Edward Moreno - 07/25/20 09:35 PM EDT
A federal judge denied a request from the Trump administration to delay its deadline to release migrants from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers.
U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee ruled in late June that children in ICE detention centers must be released with all deliberate speed, due to coronavirus infections within facilities. The judge have the federal government a deadline of July 17 to comply. She later extended the deadline to July 27 after a motion from the Trump administration.
The administration sought another extension, which Gee denied Saturday.
There will be no family separation without parental consent, regardless of whether a know-your-rights protocol exists or not, Gee wrote in her order.
In her June ruling Gee, an Obama appointee, cited recent outbreaks of the virus at two ICE facilities, saying the centers are on fire and there is no more time for half measures.
NBC News reported this week that despite the fact that the deadline to release those in ICE custody was days away, the administration has not yet let many migrants go, with 346 children and parents still in custody.
The litigation comes as outbreaks have surged across the country, with California, Texas, Arizona and Florida all states with ICE detention facilities becoming hot spots for the disease.

The wealthy Republicans who want to oust Trump in November's election
Tim Reid
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Jimmy Tosh, who runs a multi-million dollar hog and grain farm in Tennessee, is a lifelong Republican. He is pro-gun, supports lower taxes and agrees with most of Republican President Donald Trumps agenda.
He is also spending his money to help defeat Trump in Novembers election.
I agree with 80% of the things he does; I just cannot stand a liar, Tosh, 70, said of Trump.
Tosh is one of a growing number of wealthy conservative Americans who say Trump is a threat to democracy and the long-term health of the Republican Party. They are actively supporting his Democratic opponent in the Nov. 3 vote, former Vice President Joe Biden.
Several billionaire and millionaire donors to The Lincoln Project, the most prominent of Republican-backed groups opposing Trumps re-election, told Reuters that elected Republicans should also be punished for enabling him. Some even support the ouster of vulnerable Republican senators to hand control of the chamber to Democrats.
Their money has fueled an unprecedented campaign from members of a sitting presidents own party to oust him from office. This is a sign that Trump has alienated some Republicans, most recently with his response to the coronavirus pandemic and nationwide protests over police brutality against Black Americans.

The Army is helping the state in case it needs to quickly build out more surge capacity at its hospitals as Covid-19 cases continue to rise, seeking contractors who can build temporary facilities with 10 days notice. The state doesnt know how many facilities will be needed or where, but officials want to get an idea of how quickly they could build out surge hospital capacity, just in case, according to the notice.

AOC Fucks the Patriarchy's Shit Up
The line from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's calm evisceration of Rep. Ted Yoho yesterday on the floor of the House of Representatives that will likely be the one that is remembered is something that shouldn't need to be said: "Having a daughter does not make a man decent. Having a wife does not make a decent man. Treating people with dignity and respect makes a decent man." Too many terrible men have tried to use the fact that they're related to women as a defense for their shit behavior. Ocasio-Cortez was done with that, as we all should be. Ted Bundy had a mom. Bill Cosby has a wife and daughters. Donald Trump has had three wives and two daughters. Their proximity to women did nothing to ameliorate their hideous acts towards women.
Ocasio-Cortez said that she wasn't speaking so much because Yoho had called her a "fucking bitch" on the steps of the Capitol but because, the day before, Yoho had offered the fake apology of a fucking bitch. Yoho has long been a fucking bitch. He rode into DC on one of the racist Tea Party waves in 2012, representing a district in Florida that's 75% white. He's been a loyal gobbler of Koch money, the kind of piece of shit Republican who votes to defund Planned Parenthood, won't say if the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is constitutional, and refuses to vote for a federal anti-lynching bill because that would be "overreach." What had so upset Yoho that he felt he had to confront Ocasio-Cortez? The Democrat from NYC had said a month ago that poverty leads to crime, something that we've fucking known since at least Les Miserables. But that set off Yoho because if there's one thing a Republican doesn't want to hear, it's that you might need to actually help people.
Then, proving that he's one of the littlest fucking bitches in the bitch-filled GOP caucus, Yoho went to the mic in the House on Wednesday to say, in essence, "Sorry if what I said upset you. Oh, and I didn't say it. Oh, and I might have said it but I didn't intend for her to hear it. Oh, and I only said the thing I didn't say because I love my country and God and my wife and daughters and I'm gonna hide behind all that because I'm a fucking bitch." More or less, that was it.
snip//
Yoho's pathetic little slap at Ocasio-Cortez is just another of the last gasps of a white patriarchy that has been on oxygen for at least a decade, kept alive by unholy medical procedures and the force of pure racist and sexist fear, like Sheldon Adelson or the thankfully dead Strom Thurmond, that their day may finally, at long last, after so much delay, be over. And it's going to be women like Ocasio-Cortez and the dozen-plus women in Congress who stood with her, as well as the daughters and granddaughters of soon-to-be extinct creatures like Yoho.
Goddamn, it can't come soon enough. Please take the keys away from men, whether in Congress or in other positions of power and hopefully the presidency one day soon. God knows people like Ted Yoho have fucked this nation he supposedly loves for everyone, including wives and daughters. No, the people who really love the United States know it must change or it will die. Ocasio-Cortez and Pramila Jayapal and Ayanna Pressley and Mikie Sherrill and Rashida Tlaib and so many more will keep giving the patriarchy a beat down in the Congress and elsewhere until it's finally yielded to the hope of progress.
