An Ohio man has been arrested for allegedly mailing letters filled with feces to several Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Jim Jordan. Federal prosecutors say 77-year-old Richard John Steinle, a former court employee in Portage County, sent out more than 36 tainted letters to lawmakers in Ohio, Kentucky, and Washington, D.C. between August 2021 and July 29 of this year, Cleveland.com reports. Charged with mailing “injurious articles” that are non-mailable, Steinle was released Friday on a $20,000 unsecured bond after his first court appearance. He was reportedly already on the radar of undercover postal service inspectors in July when he tried to mail a letter to Jordan. After watching him drop the letter in a collection box, investigators conducting surveillance are said to have intercepted the letter—which contained a greeting card, a $1 bill and suspected feces.

Former President Donald Trump gave a bizarre shoutout to his former White House doctor at the Conservative Political Action Conference late Saturday, insisting that “he loved looking at my body.” Of Ronny Jackson (R-TX), currently serving as the U.S. representative for Texas’ 13th congressional district, Trump said, “He was a admiral, a doctor and now he’s a congressman.” He went on to say he'd once asked Jackson, “‘Which is the best if you had your choice?’ And he sort of indicated doctor, because he loved looking at my body. It was so strong and powerful,” Trump told supporters, as Jackson grinned in the audience. “But he said I’m the healthiest president that’s ever lived. I was the healthiest. I said ‘I like this guy. I don’t know who the hell he is’ at the time, I said, but I liked him.”

I'll start at the beginning. During the past two years there have been many commentaries about the lack of enthusiasm that Democrats have for President Biden and by extension for the Democratic Party as a whole. The attention given to this has been almost overwhelming at times.
And now, as the president starts to rack up some significant victories, that narrative is fading. It can't disappear any too soon.
But what about the flipside? With the definitive, if still singular, result in this week’s Kansas vote, it seems to me that there is plenty of reason to flip that narrative 180°.
Because it looks like the Republicans have put themselves into a box.
On the one hand, if they continue to support draconian antiabortion legislation and the related restrictions that they seem to be hell-bent on instituting -- regarding gay marriage, contraception, etc. -- then they can expect to see a whole series of results similar to the Kansas vote in the upcoming election. All Democrats have to do is make sure that Republican candidates are tightly tied to their well-publicized punitive policies, and negative results for the Rs appear likely, if not inevitable.

Congressman introduces amendment to anti-abortion bill that would ban erectile dysfunction drugs

Indiana state Rep. John L. Bartlett proposed an amendment Thursday to a bill as ludicrous as the anti-abortion bill the state is attempting to pass. The congressman suggested that if pregnancy was “an act of god,” then “impotency” must also be. Obviously, he was illustrating a point about bodily autonomy.
The video of Bartlett’s argument went viral and got 36,800 likes on Twitter.
Bartlett explains that some of the onus of pregnancy should be placed on men.
Republican Rep. Wendy McNamara stood to counter Bartlett’s amendment and said, while laughing, that she would “measure her comments” because she didn’t “want to get in trouble.”
Bartlett responded to McNamara by saying, “Some may think this is a joke, but it takes two people to make a pregnancy to come about. And to put all of the onus on a woman, I just think it’s unfair.”

“We’re forcing young girls to mothers, but not forcing the men to be fathers,” Bartlett argues. “This bill makes it illegal to prescribe, distribute, or supply erectile dysfunction drugs or sexual impotency drugs. If, in fact, pregnancy is an act of god, then impotency must be an act of god,” Bartlett says.
The video of Bartlett’s argument went viral and got 36,800 likes on Twitter.

The clip of Scott begins with him talking about being canceled, which is typical far-right culture war red meat, and it got a mild sort of bored applause, but then Scott started talking about socialism, and things went downhill fast.
Rick Scott is in charge of the national Senate Republican campaign effort. After listening to his remarks, it is clear that it was his idea to run ads attacking Democratic Senate candidates for being socialists all across the country.
The problem is that the message is so boring that even the CPAC wasn’t buying it.
If Republicans fail to win control of the Senate, it will be for numerous reasons, but one of the big ones will be that screaming socialism all day long is a losing strategy.

Wray Admits The FBI Never Investigated Brett Kavanaugh Sexual Assault Tips
FBI Director Chris Wray admitted during Senate testimony that tips about Brett Kavanaugh and sexual assault were never investigated but instead given to Donald Trump.
Director Wray said, “I apologize that in advance that it’s been frustrating for you, we’ve tried to be clear about our process, so when it comes to the tip line, we wanted to make sure that the White House had all the information we have so when the hundreds of calls started coming in we gathered those up reviewed them and provided them to the White House without investigation.”
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) asked, “You reviewed them for purposes of separating from tip-line traffic but did not further investigate the ones that related to Kavanaugh, correct?
Wray answered, “Correct.”
Sen. Whitehouse has been trying to get answers from the FBI for years about the sham investigation into the Brett Kavanaugh sexual assault claims. Thanks to Sen. Whitehouse (D-RI), the nation now knows that the FBI allowed the Trump administration to decide who could be questioned and what could be asked.
The investigation was a fraud. The FBI collected the tips and then handed them to Trump as he ran the “investigation” into his Supreme Court nominee. If it chose to do so, the Senate could open an investigation into the sham investigation and the sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh.
When Trump and the GOP conned Brett Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court, an injustice was done. A wrong was committed that deserves to be righted.

I'm getting lots of mailed ads, one from each today. I'm legitimately undecided. Should I be? I prefer Nicki but are there reasons Charlie should get the nod, even though he's lost a few? I also fear desantis is way too popular which proves the numbers of dumbasses in this state. Help!

Amid worsening economic numbers — and President Biden’s lowest approval rating to date — a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll suggests that Democrats’ best chance for a boost before November’s pivotal midterm elections would be to pass the climate change, tax and prescription drug bill that Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a key Democratic centrist, finally agreed to support last week.
The survey of 1,557 U.S. adults, which was conducted from July 28 to Aug. 1, found that Americans favor — by wide margins — each major component of the sweeping “reconciliation” deal that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer negotiated with Manchin.
When told, for instance, that “Democrats in the U.S. Senate just put forward a surprise $369 billion climate and energy package that promises to cut greenhouse gas emissions to 40 percent below 2005 levels by 2030,” nearly half of Americans (47%) say they favor it, while less than a third (30%) say they’re opposed.

McCarthy Lies: Pelosi Did Invite Republicans To Taiwan
Do Republicans lie just for the fun of it? Or because they can always get away with it on Fox?

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy claimed to Fox News's Harris Faulkner that Speaker Pelosi refused to take any Republicans to Taiwan, making it appear she didn't reach out to the GOP.
However, the right-wing Washington Times reported on July 28, that Speaker Nancy Pelosi invited other lawmakers to join her on her trip to Taiwan including the top-ranked Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Michael McCaul.
Does McCarthy lie just to lie? Of course, going on Fox News usually allows Republicans and their acolytes to lie with impunity.
