cannabis_flower's JournalI have Covid
Now when someone says to me Ive been vaccinated. I dont need to wear a mask, I have something to say.
I was vaccinated and I got Covid. I was sick for over 3 weeks. I didnt have to go to the hospital but I did go to the doctor. Even with insurance I spent at least $125.
I had a sore throat first. After about a week, a cough, shortness of breath and overwhelming fatigue. I went and got a Covid test which was positive. I never completely lost my taste, but nothing tasted very good.
Finally starting to feel a little better after more than 3 weeks.
Thanks Joe
This morning when I sat down at my home office and opened my email I saw the email saying everyone in the company was getting at least a $2.00 per hour raise. That brings me from $14.68 an hour to $16.68. I know Joe really isnt responsible for my raise. But it makes about the same amount of sense as the memes floating around blaming him for rising food and gas prices.
Finding money: a windfall or theft?
https://amp.tennessean.com/amp/96983060Is it unethical for someone to keep money they find in a purse at a thrift store?
Ms. Cheap responds to a reader who questioned shoppers keeping loot that belongs to someone else.
I got quite the response to my recent column on the 99-cent Goodwill outlet store was it right for a shopper to keep money she found in a handbag in a bin at the store?

So what would you do?
Sometimes you can't win
I do cell phone support Tuesday through Saturday and on Saturday night I usually go out after I get off work to drive for Uber, make a little money and get people home. I like the idea that I help keep drunks off the road and help stranded people get home.
Sunday morning I picked up 2 young guys on the south side of Houston and took them to Lake Jackson. On the way there on the Texas coastal road my car hit a feral pig. It came out of nowhere. The trip was long and was a really good fare. No it seems like today I was practically working for nothing be the repair will cost more than the fare ($168)
I decided to look on the bright side. I am alive. I wasnt hurt at all. My passengers werent hurt. My passenger were two very polite young guys. As soon as we stopped one of them help me look at the car. The bumper is still attached but the drivers side is cracked, sticking out. The running light is hanging down but still connected. That plastic part on the undercarriage was dragging on the ground so we had to pull it off. But it still runs fine. I had no problem driving back home. I know a guy and Im going to go by tomorrow and see what its going to take to fix it.
I was really lucky that the hog wasnt bigger and that it wasnt standing directly in front. We could have all died in a wreck. Lot of people pay way more money to have adventures. I was riding around with two young guys. One of them was getting married. The were going home from his bachelor party. We listened to Nirvana, Weezer and The Toadies. At least I had fun until the feral hog.
Update: Even better news. I got it fixed for $100.
Well I got a COVID-19 booster (or placebo) Monday
I was in the Pfizer vaccine study and they asked me if I wanted to participate in the study for the booster shot. Im about 99% sure I didnt get the placebo, in fact this reaction has been worse than the other two. I started getting achy, tired and generally not feeling well Monday around 5pm and still feel achy and tired. And my arm hurts and is red at the injection site.
Hopefully it keeps me from getting a bad case of Covid.
Editorial: Congress must seize the moment to provide legal status for Dreamers and TPS holders
Now for the politics. With Democrats in charge of the House and in control of the tie-breaking vote in the Senate, and with a Democratic president, this may be a unique moment to finally push through legislation that would provide legal status for the Dreamers and for long-term TPS recipients. To that end, bills to give Dreamers and TPS recipients a path to citizenship have been introduced in both houses.

Now that the Covid Relief Act is just about done...
Id like to see them focus on an immigration bill that grants DACA and TPS holders permanent status. I have a vested interest in this. My husband from Honduras has been here since 1997 and TPS since 1998 and has been working and paying taxes and is not a criminal and shouldnt be forced to go back to Honduras.
Cold in Houston!
Well it started out with no internet from Comcast and spotty service from T-Mobile but my electricity was on and I was comfortable. I just couldnt work because I work from home on the internet.
Then no water and at 10:36 pm on Tuesday the electricity went out. It came back on Wednesday morning about 2:30am but went out about 9am went out again. I went to a friends house who had electricity for a few hours (my husband stayed home in the cold because my friend has animals that mess with his allergies.). I came home because he was hungry but all I could find to bring home were Doritos and bean dip and coffee. It teased me for about 5 minutes when the electricity came on and went right back out.
Im sitting in my car charging my phone and getting warm. Its 55 degrees in the house.
Update: We now have electricity. Still no water for bathing or dishes. We are under boil water orders but no water to boil. But due to my husbands niece, we now have plenty of drinking water.
