Rhodes Message To Trump 1/10: "You must use the insurrection act"

Stewart Rhodes wrote message to Trump after Jan. 6 calling on him to 'save the Republic,' arrest members of Congress

The message was not delivered, but was later turned over to the FBI, a witness told jurors as the government nears the end of its argument in the Oath Keepers seditious conspiracy trial.

WASHINGTON — Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes wrote a message intended for former President Donald Trump in the days after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, calling upon Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act to stay in power and arrest members of Congress.

“If you don’t then Biden/Kamala will turn all that power on you, your family, and all of us. You and your family will be imprisoned and killed,” Rhodes wrote in a message presented in court on Wednesday. “You and your children will die in prison.”

The message, which also called for Trump to have members of Congress and state legislators arrested, was not delivered to the then-president.

Jason Alpers, a government witness in the Oath Keepers seditious conspiracy trial, testified about the message on Wednesday. Alpers said he had a recording device in his pocket that was disguised as a thumb drive when he met with Rhodes on Jan. 10, 2021, just a few days after the Jan. 6 attack. Alpers said he purchased the recording device on his own and had previously used it. Alpers testified that he was not working on behalf of a federal law enforcement agency when he made the recording.

Morning everyone! Some thoughts on where we are 7 days before last day of voting.

Simon Rosenberg:

Early vote remains encouraging. At this point in 2018 Rs had 300k national vote lead. Today Ds lead by 2.6m.

Ds are above 20 share in GA, IA, MI, NM, NV, NC, OH, PA, TX, WI, almost in AZ, WA. 1/

While I'm more focused on the early vote, polling over past week has been good for Ds.

We've had good Senate polls in AZ/GA/NV/PA/WI. Good youth and Hispanic polls. Majority of national tracks last week were +D.

I'd still rather be us than them. 2/

This is a very close election. Please make sure you vote early. Voting early helps our elections run more smoothly, and helps create more Dem voters.

By voting early you allow our campaigns to target lower propensity voters now, increasing turnout.

Spread the word. 3/

Walker won a Heisman, and he has a toy badge.

Herschel Walker said he'd proudly compare his resume with that of Barack Obama. Obama was a two-term president, who also won the popular vote twice, won a Nobel Peace Prize, an Emmy, and an Oscar. Walker scored some touchdowns and paid for lots of abortions.

Obama also has an Ivy League education, a law degree, was a US Senator, a bestselling author, an educator, and also won two Grammy's.

Fed watchdog accuses Architect of Capitol of ethics violations over offer to give 'patriots' tours

A federal watchdog is accusing the Architect of the Capitol, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, of ethics violations over an offer to provide tours to “patriots” weeks before the November 2020 election.

The inspector general with oversight over J. Brett Blanton, the Architect of the Capitol, found that one of his immediate family members offered private tours of the US Capitol in September 2020 while the building was closed due to Covid-19, according to a newly released report.

A post on social media included photos of Blanton and the family member from the dome of the Capitol with a comment stating: “This is happening!!!” and “All PATRIOTS welcome,” according to the report. That comment was later edited to read: “*Patriots=Americans who love America. Not a candidate,” the report said.

Trump lawyers saw Justice Thomas as 'only chance' to stop 2020 election certification

“We want to frame things so that Thomas could be the one to issue some sort of stay or other circuit justice opinion saying Georgia is in legitimate doubt,” Trump attorney Kenneth Chesebro wrote in an email exchange.

Donald Trump’s attorneys saw a direct appeal to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as their best hope of derailing Joe Biden’s win in the 2020 presidential election, according to emails newly disclosed to congressional investigators.

“We want to frame things so that Thomas could be the one to issue some sort of stay or other circuit justice opinion saying Georgia is in legitimate doubt,” Trump attorney Kenneth Chesebro wrote in a Dec. 31, 2020, email to Trump’s legal team. Chesebro contended that Thomas would be “our only chance to get a favorable judicial opinion by Jan. 6, which might hold up the Georgia count in Congress.”

CREW sues over missing Jan. 6 texts

Multiple government agencies violated the Federal Records Act by failing to preserve text messages from January 2021 that are now missing, according to a new lawsuit filed today by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. The Secret Service, DHS, DOD, Army and National Archives have all failed to take enforcement action to recover missing texts and restore deleted texts from multiple Trump administration officials, and retrieve government records from former acting DHS Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli’s personal phone.

The missing records include text messages from top Trump administration officials at DHS, the Secret Service, DOD and the Army that were improperly deleted after being requested as part of investigations into the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol. They also include government records from Cuccinelli’s personal phone that currently remain, unlawfully, outside of the government’s custody. The agencies have known for months about the records being unlawfully deleted, but have failed to enforce the FRA through the Attorney General, as the law requires.

“Missing and destroyed federal records from top officials undermine government transparency and accountability, and it is imperative that agencies are complying with record-keeping laws,” said CREW Senior Vice President and Chief Counsel Donald Sherman. “The loss of these particular federal records would leave a major gap in the factual record concerning the January 6th attack on the Capitol, impeding efforts to obtain answers and accountability for an unprecedented assault on American democracy.”

The FRA has mandatory enforcement provisions which “require[] an agency head and [the] Archivist to take enforcement action through the Attorney General whenever they become aware of records being unlawfully removed or destroyed” and “leave no discretion to determine which cases to pursue.” The missing records may contain critical evidence concerning the January 6th attack on the Capitol and could shed light on the reasons for the government’s lack of preparedness for the attack, the government’s day-of response, and the actions or inaction of key White House and Trump administration officials on and around the insurrection.

“These missing records are the property of the American public, and the government has a legal duty to recover them,” said Sherman. “Government records must be preserved or retrieved when removed from federal custody, especially when they are critical to issues of public concern.”

There, on camera, was a man with a hammer, breaking a glass panel and entering the speaker's home

Inside the command center for the U.S. Capitol Police, a handful of officers were going through their routines early Friday morning, cycling through live feeds from the department’s 1,800 cameras used to monitor the nearby Capitol complex as well as some points beyond, when an officer stopped. On a screen showing a darkened street nearly 3,000 miles away, police lights were flashing outside the home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), officials say.

The officer in D.C. quickly pulled up additional camera angles from around Pelosi’s home and began to backtrack, watching recordings from the minutes before San Francisco police arrived. There, on camera, was a man with a hammer, breaking a glass panel and entering the speaker’s home, according to three people familiar with how Capitol Police learned of the break-in and who have been briefed on or viewed the video themselves…

Ah, but don't you see - all the coverage scared away the dealers! /MAGA rationalizing

There were 1,542 news stories about “rainbow fentanyl” in the two months before Halloween, most warning that dealers could slip this drug to trick-or-treating kids.

There hasn’t been a single story today confirming this happened anywhere in the U.S.

Federal judge issues restraining order against group monitoring Arizona ballot boxes

A federal judge in Phoenix issued a restraining order Tuesday night against a group that has been photographing and recording voters casting ballots at drop boxes in Arizona.

The order, issued by U.S. District Judge Michael Liburdi, prohibits Clean Elections USA from "openly" carrying weapons or "visibly wear body armor" within 250 feet of drop boxes. Liburdi's order also bars the group's members from taking photos, recording, following or yelling at voters within 75 feet of drop box locations.

Furthermore, he told the group's founder, Melody Jennings, to post a message to her account on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump's social media platform, that reads in part: “It is not always illegal to deposit multiple ballots in a ballot drop box. It is legal to deposit the ballot of a family member, household member, or person for whom you are the caregiver."
