Remember the AL peanut farmer who was protesting outside Roy Moore rally in honor of gay daughter?

Remember the video I tweeted of the Alabama peanut farmer who was protesting outside the Roy Moore rally in honor of his gay daughter who committed suicide? How could anyone forget, right? Watch this interview of him on @TheEllenShow. He’s an inspiration.

"The least popular first-year president on record."

A new AP-NORC poll finds President Trump’s job approval rating at just 32%, making him the least popular first-year president on record.

“As 2017 comes to a close, the majority of Americans painted a broadly pessimistic view of Trump’s presidency, the nation’s politics and the overall direction of the country. Just three in 10 Americans said the United States is heading in the right direction, and 52 percent said the country is worse off since Trump became president — worrisome signs both for the White House and Republicans heading into a midterm election year where control of Congress will be at stake.”

We have seen now that there are limits of the Bannon-Trump-Breitbart message.

Tuesday night, Alabama proved that even with the full support of Steve Bannon, Donald Trump, and their media infrastructure, certain dogs aren’t ever going to hunt. It didn’t look that way at first. It was, after all, Alabama.

.............

Yes, Donald Trump gets the base riled up. His rock-bottom approval ratings mean he also activates women, African Americans, Hispanics, and every other demographic group that doesn’t fit into his 1950s (or is it 1850s?) fantasy of what America looks, works, and feels like. Those folks—and for many of you Trump readers, this is a complicated idea, so follow along—comprise what scientists call a majority of voters. And they hate him. They hate him so much they’ll crawl across broken glass to vote against him and any candidate he endorses.

.............

Wednesday’s walk backs, revisions, and memory-holing of Donald Trump’s full-throated endorsement of Roy Moore aren’t a coincidence, but no one’s falling for it. Donald Trump strongly and powerfully supported a man he knew to be a pedophile. Donald Trump dispatched Steve Bannon down to Alabama in order to rile up the pointy-white-hat crowd in the Darwin’s waiting-room meeting halls where Roy Moore’s cousin-curious supporters grunted and hooted their approval as Bannon capered on stage like a hirsute gremlin. It didn’t go unnoticed that his firehose of insults was not directed as much at Doug Jones and the Democrats, but at Republicans and conservatives he seeks to destroy.

.................

The fact that Steve Bannon got beat like a rented mule is just the icing on the cake.

CIA reportedly captured Putins "specific instructions" to hack the 2016 election

When Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr., CIA Director John Brennan and FBI Director James B. Comey all went to see Donald Trump together during the presidential transition, they told him conclusively that they had “captured Putin’s specific instructions on the operation” to hack the 2016 presidential election, according to a report in The Washington Post. The intel bosses were worried that he would explode but Trump remained calm during the carefully choreographed meeting. “He was affable, courteous, complimentary,” Clapper told the Post. Comey stayed behind afterward to tell the president-elect about the controversial Steele dossier, however, and that private meeting may have been responsible for the animosity that would eventually lead to Trump firing the director of the FBI.

GOP, a doctor's opinion...

December 14, 2017

You can't win if you don't play.

The main takeaway is what we learned last month in Virginia: You can’t win if you don’t play. Former GOP senator Jeff Sessions, for now Donald Trump’s attorney general, ran unopposed in 2014. Let that sink in. Doug Jones had to be cajoled to step up, and in his victory speech he thanked his friends and advisers who demanded he run. Let’s hope Democrats commit to a 50-state strategy once again. The party ought to take over the infrastructure of Jones’s winning campaign, and try to use it to bolster its support in the state House and Senate and the US Congress too. Congresswoman Terry Sewell, an indefatigable Jones backer on national television, needs some company in Washington.
