"We have to tend to this garden of democracy or else things could fall apart quickly."That's what happened in Germany in the 1930s which, despite the democracy of the Weimar Republic and centuries of high-level cultural and scientific achievements, Adolph Hitler rose to dominate, Obama noted.

Trump is worse than Weinstein, says Art of the Deal author and much more will emerge
Tony Schwartz, who spent hundreds of hours with Trump while collaborating on “The Art of the Deal,” said allegations against the president were even worse than the “disturbing” claims against disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
“Today’s NYT story on Harvey Weinstein is one of the most disturbing articles I’ve ever read about dozens of human beings being complicit with & enabling a monster,” Schwartz tweeted. “Trump is worse, and much more will emerge. We are living in a deeply deeply sick American culture.”
The New York Times article reveals how Weinstein exploited his power and connections to build a “complicity machine” to help him cover up “his methodical abuse of women” over decades in Hollywood.
Schwartz suggests the truth about Trump — who has been accused of sexual assault by at least 16 women and was caught bragging about it to former “Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush — would eventually be revealed as part of the larger “#MeToo” campaign that has brought down powerful and abusive men throughout politics and the media.
“Journalists are behaving heroically,” Schwartz said. “So grateful for the depth, specificity, richness and power of so many stories about the transgressions of Trump, his administration and the epidemic of prominent men sexually assaulting women. Thank God for the first amendment.”

Yesterday Propaganda Minister Kellyanne Conway appeared at Politico‘s Women Rule event where a woman in the audience demanded to know why she continues to defend Trump against the sexual assault allegations made by multiple women. Conway’s response to the woman was characteristically ugly.

HECKLER: Kellyanne, your boss grabs women —
PALMER: Excuse me, we’re going to have a — I just want to say —
CONWAY: She just wants to go viral.
PALMER: Yeah it’s fine, but I really do want to say that, we’re here to have a dialogue, and Kellyanne —
CONWAY: (To heckler) But just remember, you didn’t get the question out of your mouth.
HECKLER: I got the question out of my mouth. Your boss grabs women by the pussy! Why do you work for him?
PALMER: So, I want — I want — ma’am? We really — okay, so. We are here to — Kellyanne and I are going to have a conversation, and hopefully we’ll be illuminating to everyone here. So, one thing I did want to talk about, that is not, and I apologize for that, is —
CONWAY: By the way, you don’t have to remove her on my account. I very much believe in the First Amendment. And I think anybody has a right to sound like a complete jackass if they’d like to.

One Republican strategist in frequent contact with senior White House officials said there had been “consternation” among Trump’s political advisers in recent days.
“The concern is that every time the president feels a little bit of pain from what Mueller’s doing, (his lawyers) give him OxyContin and tell him he’ll be fine by the morning,” this strategist said metaphorically, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter. “Rather than being aggressive lawyers defending the president’s prerogative, they’re bending over backwards on the theory that Mueller is fair and it’ll all be over soon.”
