Enough Women Are FINALLY Paying Attention To Rush Limbaugh!

........what has changed is that enough women are finally paying attention*.

It began with the Susan G. Komen incident and continued with the contraceptives battle in the war over the uterus. It has spread to women noticing all those forced-birther schemes in states.

And because women are both voters and consumers the fact that they are paying attention affects the advertisers and affects the politicians. Pretty astonishing, eh?

-----------

*It's as if the Sleeping Beauty of the fairy tale finally woke up, and not because she was kissed by the prince. It was a thorn from one of the roses which grew to keep her imprisoned that pricked her finger. And she woke up furious.

Will she stay awake? That remains to be seen.

Paula Deen's Horribly Racist Quote From The Lawsuit Against Her
Here's the unedited, jaw-dropping passage from the lawsuit against Paula Deen that's been getting so much attention. Lisa Jackson, a former employee of Paula Deen Enterprises, is suing Deen and her brother, Earl “Bubba” Hiers, for multiple instances of workplace discrimination, both sexual and racial. This is an alleged exchange from the lawsuit in which Jackson is asking Paula Deen what kind of wedding she would like to see for her brother. WARNING: N-word.

Clear Channel’s Directors Give Big to Romney, Who Won’t Criticize Limbaugh

Clear Channel’s Directors Give Big to Romney, Who Won’t Criticize Limbaugh
Mar 6, 2012 7:37 PM EST
The directors of Clear Channel, which hosts Rush Limbaugh’s show, have been big donors to Mitt Romney’s campaigns, which might help explain why Romney has been so reluctant to criticize Rush.

Fourteen directors of Clear Channel, the company that hosts the Rush Limbaugh show, have contributed $726,400 to Mitt Romney since 1994, most of it in the current presidential campaign. Romney has come under attack for refusing to criticize Limbaugh’s comments about Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, other than to say that calling her a “slut” and a “prostitute” was “not the language I would have used.”

The timing and size of these donations demonstrate Romney’s continuing close ties to those at the helm of this media giant, which has so far taken a hands-off policy about Limbaugh.

Clear Channel director Steven D. Barnes and his wife, Deborah, have given $346,200 to Romney, also starting in 1994. John Connaughton, also a Bain partner on the Clear Channel board, and wife Stephanie have contributed $296,300 since 2002, when Romney was elected governor in Massachusetts. Other directors with Bain ties who donated to Romney include Ian Loring (with Isabelle, $10,600), Edward Han ($4,800), and Blair Hendrix ($4,800). In addition to Sperling, THL partners on the Clear Channel board include Charles Brizius (with Kathleen, $8,200) and Kent Weldon ($2,600).

The three Mays directors and their families that gave were Lester Lowry Mays, the founder, and Mark and Randall, all of whom combined for $18,800. The other directors that gave were David Abrams of Abrams Capital ($4,500), Jonathan Jacobson of Highfields Capital ($2,500), and Thomas Shepherd of T.S.G. Equity Partners, who is only a director of Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, the advertising affiliate of the company. Like so many others on the Clear Channel board, Abrams and Shepherd began giving to Romney in the 1990s.

Female Journalist Attacked By Limbaugh Responds: He ‘Just Doesn’t Think Women Count’

Female Journalist Attacked By Limbaugh Responds: He ‘Just Doesn’t Think Women Count’
By Annie-Rose Strasser on Mar 7, 2012 at 11:00 am

Tracie McMillan

Having offered a quasi-apology for his sexist smears against Sandra Fluke, hate radio host Rush Limbaugh has moved on to another female target: investigative journalist Tracie McMillan, who wrote a book on the American food system called The American Way of Eating. Ripping into McMillan yesterday on his radio show, Limbaugh mused, “What is it with all of these young, single, white women, overeducated — doesn’t mean intelligent.”

McMillan is now pushing back against Rush’s continuing campaign of hate against prominent female progressive advocates. In an interview with the Atlantic Wire published today, McMillan said she thought Limbaugh was attacking her solely for her being a woman:

“It’s been really interesting to have somebody be that openly dismissive of my work strictly based on the fact that I’m female,” McMillan told The Atlantic Wire. “There’s no other way to think about it except that Rush Limbaugh just doesn’t think women count.” McMillan went on to explain how her book approaches some difficult issues about the food that feeds America and the conditions for the workers that produce it, however Limbaugh didn’t seem willing to engage in that debate. Instead, he focused on her being a woman.

“Can we call them racist, misogynist bigots now?”

Won’t Be Long Now, Folks!
Posted on March 6, 2012 by Zandar |

And the odds that we’ll get to somebody dropping the ni-CLANG word on President Obama took a really big step forward today, along with bonus misogyny to boot. They say a picture’s worth a thousands words, and judging from the latest Mike Lester political cartoon from the Rome (Ga.) News-Tribune, none of those words are fit to print in a gorram family blog like this one.

Yeah, let that sink in. You’ve got the African-American President is a 70?s pimp angle, the Sandra Fluke is a whore angle, the “evil light-skinned brother” angle, the white girl subservient to the black man angle, a complete misrepresentation of Ms. Fluke’s statements to boot and it’s all rolled up into one big insulting awful package of pure hatred for black people, women, and human beings with working souls. It’s actually impressive, in the same way ebola-tipped bullets fired into crowds of baby sloths is impressive: just overwhelmingly, unremittingly awful on multiple levels. Kudos to you, Mr. Lester. You’re a deeply nuanced and multi-layered asshole who has clearly mastered the art of the economy of visual vitriol. On a personal note, your awesome little piece of garbage here just won me the “Can we call them racist, misogynist bigots now?” argument in one very convincing little package.

It will not be long now until we descend past 2008?s nadir of Obama Waffles and 2010?s witch doctor with a bone through the nose and hit actual use of ni-CLANG. It’s only March, people. We’ll get there by Memorial Day at this rate.

Buckle up.

Roy Blunt Booed, Called 'Devil' At Kennedy Center

Roy Blunt Booed, Called 'Devil'

SEN. ROY BLUNT BOOED AT KENNEDY CENTER | At a Kennedy Center gala Monday night, an audience member lashed out at Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO). The heckler yelled, “Blunt is the devil,” during the conservative senator’s introduction. And after Blunt took the stage to speak, the person booed loudly. Blunt pushed for a amendment to let employers deny coverage of health services to their employees on the basis of personal moral objections, which the Senate rejected last week.

An Iranian (Persian) girl singing Adele - Someone like you

&feature=player_embedded

A reader with an Iranian-born wife passes along a must-see video and writes:

Of course the Iranian regime is disgusting, but people need to see that there are real people in these "bad" countries. Just look at this 13-year-old girl singing a cover of Adele, who won the most Grammys this year in the Great Satan USA. The sanctions are affecting this girl just as much as they are the regime. And even a "surgical" strike still has consequences for her.

Also, note her "protest" style (aka, normal for most Persians in Iran!): a headscarf that doesn't hide her hair, Western jeans, and a tight-fitting "chador" (coat). She could be any girl walking in West LA.

(OHIO) Extremely low voter turnout reported

Extremely low voter turnout reported

SHEFFIELD TWP. — Voter turnout in Lorain County for Tuesday’s primary election was far lower than it was four years ago, the last time there was a presidential nominating contest on the ballot.

County Board of Elections Director Paul Adams said 54,795 voters cast a ballot Tuesday. They accounted 26.6 percent of the county’s 206,202 registered voters.

In 2008, 89,381 voters went to the polls for the primary election. That was a turnout of 47.4 percent, Adams said.

On Monday, Adams had predicted a turnout of 40 percent.

He said the small number of issues on the ballot, coupled with an apparent lack of interest in the contested races that were on the ballot, probably led to the lower turnout.
