CBP Official Says HIV-Positive Status Justifies Family Separation

The chief of law enforcement at the Customs and Border Protection agency said on Thursday an adult’s HIV-positive status is justification for separating them from their children.

“If a mother or father has a HIV-positive status, is that enough to justify separation from their child?” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MA) asked the CBP’s Brian Hastings at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on family separation on Thursday morning.

“It is. It’s a communicable disease under the guidance,” Hastings replied.

Raskin then asked for clarification, noting that HIV is not spread through “ordinary contact.”

“That’s the guidance that we follow,” Hastings said.

Looks like someone pranked Trump bigly at his Turning Point USA appearance

Of course, Donald Trump reliably made himself look foolish yesterday when he boldly declared his kingship in front of a bunch of teenagers at the Turning Point USA student summit.

But it looks like some brave patriot managed to make him look even more un-American than he already was.

The “presidential” seal Trump stood in front of during his speech did look a bit hinky, come to think of it. And now The Washington Post has the inside scoop:

The image almost resembles the official seal of the president; but a closer examination reveals alterations that seem to poke fun at the president’s golfing penchant and accusations that he has ties to Russia.

The eagle has two heads instead of one — a symbol historically tied to empire and dominance. It closely resembles the bird on the Russian coat of arms, and also appears on the flags of Serbia, Albania and Montenegro. Its left talons, rather than clasping 13 arrows, appear to clutch a set of golf clubs.

Local Puerto Rican Media Reporting That Ricardo Rossello Resignation Is Imminent

In a dramatic shift to the biggest political crisis in the history of Puerto Rico, several media outlets on the island are reporting that governor Ricardo Rosselló’s resignation is imminent and could happen as soon as Wednesday.

Puerto Rico’s El Nuevo Día reported on Tuesday night that several sources have confirmed that the embattled governor will announce his resignation in the next couple of hours. Noticentro has also reported that the resignation will happen on Wednesday.

The ENDi noted that Rosselló has recorded a farewell message that will be broadcast before noon on Wednesday. The article noted that Secretary of Justice, Wanda Vázquez would be the new governor since the Secretary of State position is absent.

On Telemundo Puerto Rico on Tuesday night, host Jay Fonseca also reported around 10:50 pm ET that a source close to the situation said that Rosselló will resign tomorrow, but that other sources are denying this.
