NH lawmaker: Women deserve less pay because they don’t work hard like men
NH lawmaker: Women deserve less pay because they dont work hard like men
.....................
During a floor debate on Wednesday, state Rep. Will Infantine (R) argued that the Paycheck Equity Act was not necessary to prevent wage discrimination based on gender because women deserved to make less.
Men, by and large, make more because some of the things that they do, he opined. Their jobs are, by and large, riskier. They dont mind working nights and weekends. They dont mind working overtime or outdoors.
.................................
Men work five or six hours longer a week than women do, he continued. When it comes to women and men who own businesses
women make half of what men do because of flexibility of work, men are more motivated by money than women are.
...............................
Guys! Im not making this stuff up, the Republican pleaded. My apologies if I have some people upset.

A fatal wait: Veterans languish and die on a VA hospital's secret list
(CNN) -- At least 40 U.S. veterans died waiting for appointments at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care system, many of whom were placed on a secret waiting list.
The secret list was part of an elaborate scheme designed by Veterans Affairs managers in Phoenix who were trying to hide that 1,400 to 1,600 sick veterans were forced to wait months to see a doctor, according to a recently retired top VA doctor and several high-level sources.
For six months, CNN has been reporting on extended delays in health care appointments suffered by veterans across the country and who died while waiting for appointments and care. But the new revelations about the Phoenix VA are perhaps the most disturbing and striking to come to light thus far.
Internal e-mails obtained by CNN show that top management at the VA hospital in Arizona knew about the practice and even defended it.

Anyone else find this pic pathetic, considering what we learned today about Cliven Bundy?

President Obama Tears Apart CNN’s Lazy and Biased Press Conference Question
President Obama Tears Apart CNNs Lazy and Biased Press Conference Question

..................
During a joint press conference with Prime Minister Abe of Japan, CNN embarrassed themselves with a biased question that President Obama dismantled with facts.[....]
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, Jim, let me unpack that question because theres a whole bunch of assumptions in there, some of which I dont agree with. First of all, the treaty between the United States and Japan preceded my birth, so obviously, this isnt a red line that Im drawing; it is the standard interpretation over multiple administrations of the terms of the alliance, which is that territories under the administration of Japan are covered under the treaty. Theres no shift in position. Theres no red line thats been drawn. Were simply applying the treaty.[....]
With respect to the other issues that you raise, our position, Jim,
the United States position is that countries should abide by
international law[....] Now, the implication of the question I think is, is
that each and every time a country violates one of those norms the United States should go to war, or stand prepared to engage militarily, and if it doesnt then somehow were not serious about those norms.
Well, thats not the case. Right now, we have 87 percent of serious chemical weapons have already been removed from Syria. Theres about 13 percent left. Thats as a consequence of U.S. leadership. And the fact that we didnt have to fire a missile to get that accomplished is not a failure to uphold those international norms, its a success. Its not a complete success until we have the last 13 percent out.

Roger Ailes owns Cliven Bundy now: How dumb opportunism became a right-wing nightmare
Roger Ailes owns Cliven Bundy now: How dumb opportunism became a right-wing nightmareSean Hannity has been the racist ranchers top backer, and Fox and the GOP made him a cause. Now he's their problem
................
Surprise! Sean Hannitys hero, whose cause has been embraced by Senators Dean Heller of Nevada and Rand Paul of Kentucky along with Texas Gov. Rick Perry, turns out to be an old-time Republican racist, the kind that even Jonathan Chait recognizes, and Fox News and the GOP have a problem.
Until now Ive ignored Bundy because hes an extremist and a freak, and even Glenn Beck has denounced him. I was reluctant to use him against the GOP. But as hes gotten support from the likes of Paul and Perry, two respected 2016 candidates, plus regular backing from Hannity and Nevada Sen. Heller, hes become a huge problem for the right.
The welfare rancher has grazed his cattle for free and owes the government more than a million dollars, but to his admirers hes leading an American insurrection. This is the beginning of taking America back, Shawna Cox of Kanab, Utah, told the New York Times. From whom? Shawna doesnt have to say.
Asked about Bundys virulently racist remarks by the Times, Rand Paul was not available for immediate comment. What courage. At least Dean Hellers office immediately condemned the appalling and racist statements. Heres a tip for Rand Paul: Youre a libertarian. Give your staff the liberty to tell the media you abhor racist comments, even if youre not around.

A couple days ago Jonathan Chait asserted that modern conservatism is "doomed" because it is "rooted in white supremacy." The first claim may or may not be true, but there's little doubt about the second.
