SleeplessinSoCal
SleeplessinSoCal's JournalSpectrum News! A great bonus for leaving AT&T.
Spectrum has a dedicated local SoCal news station and another for Costa Mesa matters. A ton of local matters. Arts - Politics - food - local activities. Positivity on one channel.
Neither channel feature violence or car chases. And that is part of Spectrum News mission statement.
"Spectrum News operates on a model of not carrying news about violent crimes, common auto accidents and fires (known in the industry as 'if it bleeds, it leads' journalism), unless a story involving one is so large and affecting, that coverage is effectively required to remain competitive."

Ayn Rand's wildest dream came true.
Not sure what Alan Greenspan makes of the deterioration of the GOP, but I'd like to hear from him.
"Rand described Objectivism as "the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute".
10 years ago the "tea party took flight. Notably two of its biggest championship are gone - Paul Ryan and David Koch. But the damage is done. Two Russians seem to be responsible for the destruction of our democracy. Did Rand intentionally intend to destroy our country?

California (under attack) taxpayers paid for Elder's rise
He is going to win the Republican nomination next June because Republicans are radical here. But from reading about Elder's watch party - in my neighborhood of Costa Mesa!!! - his platform is homelessness, crime, housing, education *cough, *cough. That's bunk. And merely a ploy to appeal to the middle.
He surged ahead of better candidates because he already had a radical following. But our tax dollars paid for this unwanted recall that served to obliterate the moderates.
Is this a good or a bad thing? The methods of recall elections in CA has to change. It is too easy , too expensive, and is being exploited.
From the L.A. Times:
"But dominion over a small conservative resistance dominated by a shrinking minority of older, white voters is not a formula to return Republicans to power in California, said GOP consultant Mike Madrid. You can say you remained pure in defeat, but thats just a martyr candidacy, Madrid said. It appeals to a core group that is the fastest-shrinking demographic in the state and in the country.
What I clearly see is a party of exploitation by amoral politicians and media con men. How long have we been a country of amorality? Old words like "scruples" are going extinct along with civility itself. We need a rebirth.
Sanders Supporters Overly Zealous and Divisive
It will be a hard fall brought on by those who "support" him most. I do wonder if this is how America elects Donald Trump....
Taking apart Al Franken on Facebook is akin to mutiny in my estimation. The lack of respect for traditiinal democrats shows a real intolerance I never imagined was percolating here. And you will lose needed allies. Wasn't this the "no attacks" campaign?
And it goes out to Paul Krugman as well.

I'm sick at heart. I've been blocked by both groups for asking questions. And I really don't want to be here after 12 years of being registered on DU.
So bash away. That is what this place has come to and it is depressing as hell.
