Does Trump even understand the concept of being mutually exclusive? Trump keeps saying/tweeting
that nothing ever happened with Russia, Trump,and the elections and besides that “the nothing" was
Obama’s fault too. Reality does not allow for both statements to be true.

From CNN: The reason McMaster might be out is that he said that Russia meddled in our Elections

..... and that meddling did not effect the outcome of the elections as per Trump.

Tension with Trump

Tensions between Trump and McMaster have been playing out for months and were on full display this weekend after Trump publicly chided him over remarks he made regarding Russian interference in the election.

"General McMaster forgot to say that the results of the 2016 election were not impacted or changed by the Russians and that the only Collusion was between Russia and Crooked H, the DNC and the Dems," Trump tweeted. "Remember the Dirty Dossier, Uranium, Speeches, Emails and the Podesta Company!"

Our democracy is in serious danger.

President Donald Trump is either totally compromised by the Russians or is a towering fool, or both, but either way he has shown himself unwilling or unable to defend America against a Russian campaign to divide and undermine our democracy.

That is, either Mr. Trump’s real estate empire has taken large amounts of money from shady oligarchs linked to the Kremlin — so much that they literally own him; or rumors are true that he engaged in sexual misbehavior while in Moscow running the Miss Universe contest, which Russian intelligence has on tape and he doesn’t want released; or Mr. Trump actually believes Russian President Vladimir Putin when he says he is innocent of intervening in our elections — over the explicit findings of his personally chosen chiefs of the CIA, NSA and FBI.

In sum, Mr. Trump is either hiding something highly threatening to himself or he’s criminally incompetent to be commander in chief. It seems very likely that one of these scenarios explains Mr. Trump’s refusal to respond to Russia’s direct attack on our system — a quiescence unprecedented for any president in history. Russia is acting in a hostile manner, and Mr. Trump keeps ignoring it.

news? Trump can't have it both ways because the two cases are mutually

But emails seen by the Times show senior transition official K.T. McFarland had notified other staff that Flynn would be reaching out to Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak as part of an effort to repair U.S.-Russian relations, “which has just handed the U.S.A. election to him [Trump].”

In an email to another transition official, now-homeland security adviser Thomas Bossert, McFarland wrote that “Russia’s response over the next few days” to Flynn’s outreach would be crucial. Per the Times, Bossert then forwarded that December 29th email exchange to at least six other officials including Flynn, Reince Priebus, Stephen Bannon, and Sean Spicer. He added that everyone needed to “defend election legitimacy now.”

Up til now, Mike Pence has claimed time and again he was “out of loop”. That he knew nothing of the Flynn peace-offering mission. That these were all rogue actions, by rouge players — to conduct secret international diplomacy, on a whim, on their own initiative. For the fun of it, apparently.

EVEN THOUGH, Mike Pence was the Boss of every one them — since Pence was the Director of the Transition Team, where this micro-managed “mend the fences conspiracy” occurred.

Chait arrives at this conclusion indirectly, as none of us except for Trump and possibly a few others in the Kremlin could possibly confirm it, but Trump’s behavior pattern towards Russia has been remarkably telling. There is no good reason for Trump’s grotesquely fawning relationship to the Russian state unless it derives from a benefit to Trump himself. That’s simply the kind of man he is. Whether that benefit is related to his finances, of which he is astonishingly secretive, or of his personal sexual habits, which have recently been revealed as equally clandestine, Trump has shown himself to be obligated for some reason to the Russian state. And the news in recent weeks has confirmed that Trump is possessed of the type of character that is ripe for blackmail.
