In the middle of this maelstrom, I am reminded that Al Gore is still President-Elect.

The only such incident of its kind in American history: by any measure agreed upon by both sides until the Supreme Court cemented our first coup, he was elected by both the popular vote and electoral vote but has not served his term.

This is technically true. Tragically factual. We're in the center of a different kind of coup, but it is all predicated on the willingness of conservatives to tolerate cheating and violence as political tactic. Just like 2000.

He'd be a kick-ass President.

It would be smart marketing right now for a major ISP to declare their own privacy code of conduct.

Whether anybody would believe them or not -- I'd certainly think about switching. Just a simple refusal to go along with rapacious corporate culture -- man, they'd be gold.

This issue is way beyond politics -- the numbers have got to be at least 60% in favor of strict privacy regulation, probably higher. Most people aren't carnivorous burn-it-all-down liberatarians.

Seems like low-hanging marketing fruit to me. The income off customer data sales can't be that huge.

Buy my new book!

Or don't. But I am a proud new father.

Night Will Fall.

Netflix is showing this extremely powerful documentary about the suppressed Bernstein/Hitchcock Holocaust film made in 1945.

This footage is profoundly moving. I could only watch it in short segments, and never before bed. Perhaps I am moved more than most would be; a tour of Dachau as a child imprinted heavily in me a deep hatred of all things Nazi. Still, Night Will Fall is brilliantly plain, a simple presentation of truth that cannot possibly fail to move all but the least human of humans.

Netflix's timing of this release is prescient, and an important act that reveals there is someone at home there who knows what is happening to us.

Godwin's law is dead. Paul Ryan and Donald Trump are two sides of the same bloody coin; they are functioning psychopaths, men who would (if no one stops them) fill the world with piles of discarded human beings. Whether it is their programming or biochemistry, nature or nurture, they are of the same archetype as the string of minor Nazis that (because no one stopped them) filled Europe with corpses.

It's a serious film. Made me cry, couldn't help it. It rings like a warning bell. It's a window to a possible future. Human beings who scorn empathy, who revile the concept of human brotherhood, who play with the politics of fear and death and then brag at the party of their indifference -- they are the same as the men who came before.

Brace for it.

Russians chose Gorsuch to finish off the United States.

That's how I'm going to view every decision and staff pick from here on out. How does this decision or staff pick benefit Russia's assault on the United States?

Mind you, this is no longer hyperbole. It's happening. Comey confirmed as much, considering the incredible pressure the FBI must be experiencing to drop the investigation entirely. The Republicans know they must move fast and use every bit of political power they possess to escape justice -- and yet, there it was, announced right out in public. The truth is probably much larger than we imagine.

So -- Dugin's disciple Bannon chose Gorsuch as the pièce de résistance of the ongoing assault on our nation -- the Supreme Court is the last bastion, and they need it desperately to shut down any hope of the US springing back from the brink.

Don't forget -- there was a Russian military intelligence chief who resigned during the US election after he found out what Putin was doing, and sent a letter to all his contemporaries warning of the consequences of lashback should the US discover their machinations. 'Russia will not survive,' he warned.

A true statement, that. They'd better win. They had better make sure we're all silenced or dead. Because the American Lashback will change Russia forever.

And that's a Good Thing.

'I'm not sure, but I think Paul Ryan has a more punchable face than fucktard45. I could be wrong.'

my friend just texted me.

Kant, Hegel, Mills, Einstein, Feynman -- but this to me might be humanity's last important quandary. Well done, Sir Cascade.

I think he's right.

These self-proclaimed 'religious' men of the GOP seem certain there is no Hell.

So we'll have to make one for them.

I need to go back to the ship.

I'm trapped in some sort of strange timeline. Feel like I'm breathing underwater. Too many penises all around me.

The United States Of Not America.

There is a direct geometric correlation between your grasp of history plus the accuracy of your moral compass, and the level to which you have been traumatized by the species-threatening events of the last few months.

GH + AMC = LT.

Which, applied to myself, means I'm fucking scarred for life.

I swear to go out in public with my extremely sarcastic sign and make a scene on a regular basis. I also swear to freak out in the face of Dolt supporters unless they outnumber me, in which case I will find a quieter and more sinister way to freak out.

Because we're at war. And I am a member of the American Resistance. And although I am a hominid and prone to anxiety and flight, now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

Friday. It's Friday.

Free Day.

Randi Rhodes' interview with Malcom Nance is a beautiful thing.

It's the 3/2 show, about fifteen minutes in. The full-on truth. Impressive journalism. A lot of nuanced information I hadn't heard.

Brilliant. Damn I'm glad she's back.
