Earlier Monday, Johnson told students at Liberty University that Justice Clarence Thomas is the type of jurist he would nominate to the U.S. Supreme Court as president.

“With regard to Supreme Court justices, it would be an issue of justices ruling on the basis of original intent of the Constitution,” Johnson said in a question and answer session following his remarks at the nation’s largest evangelical university.

“I think that Judge Thomas has probably been at the forefront of the kind of a judge that I would like to appoint.”

Health secretary Cleopa Mailu has rejected the planned trial of genetically modified (GM) maize in Kenya, dealing a big blow to scientists and global seed companies, who have been pushing for policy change on the controversial crop science.

Dr Mailu says in a letter to the Ministry of Environment that introduction of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in Kenya remains bound by a decision of the 16th Cabinet meeting that banned imports of biotech foods.

He says the ban remains in force until a review and evaluation of scientific information on safety of GM foods on human health is undertaken.

Dr Mailu was responding to news that local scientists have sought permits from the National Environmental Authority (Nema) to carry out GM.

Even animals have better protection than children in public schools.

The Society for Research in Child Development reported that more than 160,000 children were subject to corporal punishment in one year, in the 19 states which have not banned the practice. The report represents “the first-ever effort to describe the prevalence of and disparities in the use of school corporal punishment at the school and school-district levels.”

Most of this barbarity is carried out in southeastern states, and there appears to be a great deal of prejudice. In many states, children with disabilities were 50% more likely to receive corporal punishment than non-disabled children. In Alabama and Mississippi, black children were 51% more likely to be physically punished than white children in more than half of school districts.

Mississippi also has the dubious honor of being the state with the highest frequency, with 1 in 14 kids being physically struck by school personnel.

Even more disturbing, a review of 2003 data found that 10,000-20,000 children had to get medical treatment for bruises, hematomas, broken bones, and nerve and muscle damage after being struck by school authorities.

Missouri even “explicitly prevents its child protective services department from having any jurisdiction to investigate allegations of child abuse stemming from school corporal punishment.”

In a debate as eventful and shocking as last night’s was, it’s hard to believe that the biggest story of the night comes not from what a candidate said but rather how they acted.

Donald Trump clearly should have spent a bit more time going over debate prep with his team so that he might have known where to stand in order to not appear as the creepiest, clownest man in the room.

Instead, he paced behind Clinton as she answered questions and didn’t sit back in his designated seat for the entirety of the town hall. Trump appeared visibly frustrated when Clinton was allowed to answer a question first and whenever she did give an answer, he stood just a couple steps behind her, hulking over her shorter frame with the air of an impending assault.

As in the first presidential debate, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s loud, repetitive sniffing seemed louder than any of the other sounds coming out of his face-holes.

The first set of questions at Sunday night's presidential debate will be about Donald Trump's vulgar comments on a newly published 2005 videotape, and the fallout from it.

And Hillary Clinton will get the first question.

Moderators Anderson Cooper of CNN and Martha Raddatz of ABC have adjusted their plan for the debate in light of the Trump tape, sources told CNNMoney.

While everything is subject to change until air time, an ABC source said -- perhaps confirming the obvious -- that Trump and Clinton will both be prompted to address the matter.

Donald Trump's first wife Ivana Trump said she raised her kids without any help from The Donald, according to the New York Daily News. "I brought the children up singlehandedly," Trump told guests Wednesday at the Lifeline Benefit at Le Cirque in New York City Wednesday, an event to benefit pediatric cancer in Serbia.

Ivana is the first of Donald's three wives and the mother of Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Jr. The two were married from 1997 to 1991, when they split over Donald's infidelity with Marla Maples, who later became his second wife.

At the time the couple divorced, their children were 12, eight, and six. Ivana received custody of all three kids.
