Oh, fuck it, here's almost the whole damned post from my blog. I'm too tired to pick out snips.
Number A: It is market-based, using the power of competition to lower prices and offer better quality. Republicans love that sort of free-market solution.
Letter 2: It is reducing the Federal Budget Deficit, which means a reduction in the increase of the National Debt. Republicans love deficit and debt reduction.
Thirdly: It takes a whole raft of people who have been free riders and makes them pay for their health care. Republicans love individual responsibility.
Finally: ObamaCare was originally created by the Heritage Foundation, a Republican think tank.
Kind of hard to hard to argue with, innit? These are all Republican ideas, enacted by a Democratic Prexy and a Democratic Congress. Why, any real Republican would be in seventh Heaven over it all.
So, that means anyone who claims to be a Republican but hates ObamaCare must not be a real Republican. Indeed, they would be Republicans in name only. Thats pretty much what this writer (along with millions of disaffected moderate Repubs) has been saying since, oh, about 1979 or so. The party that calls itself Republican is in fact going berserk, trying to destroy a health care policy that it should be embracing.
To all the real Republicans who are still out there: do us all a favor and kick these Reaganista charlatans out of your party, and take it back. Please. Then we can all return to a bunch of rational grownups running the show, having meaningful debates, reaching compromises, and just generally governing according to the rule of law and basic principles.
Instead of just mindlessly, reflexively hating anything and everything that comes from a Black President, even if the original idea was from Repubs in the first place. Which is exactly what Republicans are doing with ObamaCare.
Short post today, so I'm putting it the whole thing out. Just a rant.
"The Republican-controlled House of Representatives acts as though they speak for the American People, even though they clearly do not. They got pummeled in the last election; are regarded horribly in any poll youd care to cite; are loathed by everyone from the Loony Left to the Raging Right; are hated by Main Street and Wall Street alike; and still they claim to speak for us. They might be delusional or cynical, but it is patently obvious to everyone but the Gang of 218 that they speak for no one but themselves.
Think about it - they want to shut down the government, even though the majority of Americans oppose it. They want to keep siphoning money away from the poor to give to the rich, even though the majority of Americans oppose it. And they are claiming that the American People hate Obamacare, when in fact the American People are not of one mind on the topic.
This misrepresentation on the part of the House is why this writer puts Representatives in quotations whenever they are called out: they cannot represent us if they misrepresent us. And that, Gentle Reader, is why the Republican-controlled House of Representatives is truly, massively, totally full of s***."
I know, most DUers are hip to this scam, but here's a blog post for the Fundagelicals in your life, referencing bible verses and pointing out the BS in the Wingnut "fuck the poor, Jesus said so" argument.
Hypocrisy, thy name is Republican: Congressman Stephen Fincher, who has collected over three million dollars of funds from the farm bill, wants poor folks to get nothing from that same farm bill: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/05/us/as-debate-reopens-food-stamp-recipients-continue-to-squeeze.html?pagewanted=1&smid=tw-share
Not only that, he says Jesus wants poor people to starve. Really.
He gets this, as so many Fundagelicals do, from a single out-of-context quote from Pauls letter to the Thessalonians: Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: Those unwilling to work will not get to eat. And, like many Fundies, he glosses over the unwilling to part. You see, even a hard-case like the Apostle Paul knew that some people couldnt work, through no fault of their own. But Fincher, who cant tell the difference between Jesus and Paul, also cant see the difference between those who cannot work, and those who will not work.
But then, how can a man who gets $174,000.00 a year to rarely show up at work, and barely works when he does show up; who pocketed millions of tax dollars in exchange for doing nothing; how can such a man know what work is? He cannot, and clearly does not.
Just another day in Wingnut Land, where Congressional millionaires destroy the lives of non-millionaires, and laugh all the way to bank.
Heres another relevant quote (actually from Jesus himself) from the Gospel of Matthew: And Jesus said to His disciples, Truly I say to you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
Mr. Fincher might want to give that one a passing thought, when he isnt busy trying to starve little kids to death.

Sorry, no snips - trying to figure out the new iOS updates. Grrrrr....
"And they say government has the right to do so. In this link, the Republican government of Michigan says it straight out, with no shame or moderation:
One of the paramount purposes of marriage in Michigan and at least 37 other states that define marriage as a union between a man and a woman is, and has always been, to regulate sexual relationships between men and women so that the unique procreative capacity of such relationships benefits rather than harms society.
Got that? They are saying that they have the right to be bedroom police. And this is not some random pundit flapping his yap; this is an official court filing by attorneys for the state of Michigan. (Never mind that the Constitution says nothing at all about Government having such power.)
Even the most Leftish of all Liberal Dems havent been THAT f***ing intrusive (pun intended). And these Republicans say that they are in favor of smaller government??? Bulls***. It doesnt get more Big Brother than monitoring our bedrooms."

I saw this first on DU: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023694246 and decided to throw it out to the Blogosphere at large. Thanks to bearssoapbox!
I know most of us here know this: but I thought I'd post just to help us ignore all of the distractions and red herrings that the Wingnut-contolled media throws out there:
Full Post (I'm the author, so it's legal):
The Republicans who control the House of Representatives are once again threatening to refuse to raise the debt ceiling unless their whiny, silly, pouting, and just generally idiotic demands du jour are met. In this case, its a demand that ObamaCare be destroyed. A ridiculous demand, of course, but thats not how deep the rabbit hole of stupid goes.
Heres the deal: Congress spends money. They are responsible for the amount of taxing and spending. That means they are responsible for the amount of the national debt. That means they are responsible for the need to raise the debt ceiling.
But ObamaCare, the Wingnuts cry. News flash: Congress voted for it. That means theyre responsible for the funding that they voted for. Not the Prexy, not the courts: thats whats called the Separation of Powers. Congress holds the power of the purse, and for years they have been using that power in a most irresponsible manner.
Yes, the debt is too high. But that is no reason for Congress to try to weasel out of paying the bills they have run up over the decades. No, that is a reason to adjust tax and spending policy to bring the national debt down in the future,
The law of the land says the U.S. Government has to pay its bills. If Congress refuses to do so, they will be in violation of the law. And only Congress will be responsible. No one else. Its their fault for spending more than they take in.

The RNC chair actually said that a Big Government Democrat (Obama) wants to shut down Big Government. As he said, in his own dumb words, I think he wants this thing to happen, a shutdown of the government,
Uhhhmmm, Reince ol buddy ol pal, that aint how the Big Government types roll. They want to keep that thar Big Gummint up and runnin, yup they do.
Its actually the SMALL Government types (like Rinsing RNC Reince) that benefit from a government shutdown, because a shutdown makes the government, well, smaller. For a while.
What a truly stupid person. Why, the only way someone could be dumber would be to believe what Mr. Priebus said. Lets hope nobodys THAT dumb.

The Twitterverse exploded with the slime and garbage from stupid, ignorant, bigoted American f*** wits this past weekend, as an Indian-American woman won the Miss American pageant. Nina Davuluri, born in Syracuse NY, is according to the meth-mouthed, inbred, and generally useless subhumans who tweeted their racist s*** after she won, a terrorist convenient store clerk whose coronation is a slap in the faces of all Americans. Here is what she actually looks like:
As to what the Twittering Twits said, well, it comes down to her being Arab, or Al-Quaida, or 7/11? or some such crap. Christ on a pogo stick, these alleged Americans make you want to puke. They:
Number A, cant tell one non-lily-white person from another;
Letter 2, think all non-lily-white people are terrorists, and;
Thirdly, think that only white women, (preferably rednecks) should be crowned as Miss America."

Was there any doubt? No, there wasnt. Mr. Al-Assad won the LSoSOTW competition going away: he started the week by claiming to have no chemical weapons, then claimed hed be happy to give them up, then saying he maybeprobablywouldntunlessthisandthathappened.
And of course, you cant give up something that doesnt exist. So unless he developed the technology to create and deliver chemical weapons (and then made the chemicals and missiles, too) in a day or less, hes lying.
A Sarin-encrusted Crown O Polished Turds, then, for the Syrian Prexy. A most exemplary Lying Sack of S*** of The Week.
Mr. Blunt and Cranky
(Honorable mentions to Putin, Lavrov, Obama, and Kerry for the pretense of an accidental slip of the tongue that started this weeks diplomatic effort. Dudes, it was kinda lame. Everybody knew you made that s*** up you have been talking about this idea for a year. But it was a pretty big lie not as big as ol Bashies was, though.)

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear you saying how barbaric or something of such. But to Hell with it. Rape is endemic across the globe, and even when the victim dies or has their life ruined, most of the vile scumbag perverts get off with a slap on the wrist, or are not punished at all.
And because our justice system constantly sends the message that rape is no big deal by handing out little or no punishment for crimes of sexual violence, men think its OK to rape. Our smirking, winking, jocular, nudge-nudge cultural attitude towards rape is also a part of the problem. India provides a sharp departure from this sickening norm.
The four men who raped and murdered that poor woman in New Delhi will die by hanging. Yes. Rope around the neck, open the trapdoor, and the guilty party dangles and struggles until he dies. A horrible and painful death."
More at the link, including links to stories of rape and injustice from India, Ohio, Montana and Connecticut. I am fully aware that many people oppose the death penalty in all cases, and I respect their opinion. I just differ in the case of crimes of sexual violence.
