My prediction

His people have cleaned him up - inside and out - enough for him to not sound completely batsh+t crazy and have crafted his speech so that everything he says is technically true - which means he'll be hailed as presidential and this will be be marked as a possible turning point.

Of course, I thought this would happen at the first debate ... and his convention speech ... and at the inauguration. So what do I know?

But then tomorrow, he'll start tweeting again and we'll be back where we started.

When was the last time Biden had to fight a tough race?

(I don't count 2008 and 2012 since those were Obama's races that he would likely have won with any number of running mates).

I miss the days when a politician said something really crude into an open mic

and we didn't spend a week debating whether it was or wasn't ok because the president of the United States said much worse things in public all the time.

A great illustration of "privilege"

/

Note that no one who got a head start did anything wrong to get their privilege or is a bad person because of it. But it's important for them to recognize its existence, how they benefit from it and how it negatively impacts those who don't have it.

Is there any Democrat in America who isn't happy today that Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House?

I can't imagine any Democrat is regretting that someone else didn't take her place...

This is the kind of headline and story that will cause Ocasio Cortez trouble

Ocasio-Cortez poses with incoming female members of Congress

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) posted a photo Wednesday posing alongside several other women who will join the 116th Congress as new members on Thursday.

The photo, taken by Vanity Fair's Martin Schoeller, shows Ocasio-Cortez standing next to fellow Reps.-elect Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Deb Haaland (D-N.M.), Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) and Sharice Davids (D-Kan.).

Seriously?

Perhaps The Hill is doing this on purpose, intending to make her look bad, but how obnoxious, not to mention insulting, to the other women, for the story to be headlined and reported as if the other Members are Dawn to AOC's Tony Orlando.

This isn't AOC's fault at all - she didn't write the headline or the story - and surely she was not the only been Member to post this picture so it can't be said she did anything to prompt it. But it feeds into and helps to craft a negative narrative about AOC that she'll have to work hard to counter.

Why couldn't The Hill simply report that the incoming female Members posed TOGETHER?

Sheesh!
