There's this, and there's the near-constant coverage of Trump. Coincidence? I think not.

Fracking Injunction Fails (Chaco Canyon)

A federal judge has failed to grant an injunction to temporarily halt on oil and gas drilling in Navajo lands and the area around Chaco Culture National Historic Park. The preliminary injunction would have nullified 265 recently approved applications to drill in the San Juan Basin in northwestern New Mexico, often within 20 miles of the national park. Yet, now the practice will continue as the court process moves along.

Diné Citizens Against Ruining Our Environment, San Juan Citizens Alliance, WildEarth Guardians and Natural Resources Defense Council, represented by attorneys from Western Environmental Law Center and WildEarth Guardians, turned to the federal court to pause oil and gas development in the area, arguing that the Bureau of Land Management was proceeding with issuing permits to drill and frack without having conducted the environmental review and drafted a comprehensive plan as required by the National Environmental Policy Act. The judge’s decision weighed whether the plaintiffs were likely to succeed in making that case, and whether the injury plaintiffs would sustain outweighed the injury caused to the defendants by the injunction.

It's baaaaaaack.

It’s baaaaaack. That would be my electronics-obsessed poltergeist thingie. In the past it has messed with light covers, causing detachment and a slow-drop to the floor.

More recently (as in a couple of years ago) it focused on the television; on one occasion I came home to find a still photograph taking up the entire TV screen, unknown people, and the machine was definitely off; the picture disappeared when I hit the “on” switch.

Another time, I woke up hearing voices in the living room; when I went in there, the voices were apparently dialogue from a TV show, but again, the television was off. Like with the still photo, it stopped when I hit the “on” switch.

This morning I woke up to an annoying buzzing that sounded like it was coming from outside. As I went to look out the window I walked by my Casio keyboard and noted the sound getting louder. I keep it covered, and admit to keeping bits of correspondence on top of it since it hasn’t been played since the holidays. But, what the heck, I shifted the mail and removed the cover, to find that the switch was in the “on” position; this isn’t a button that just requires a gentle push, it’s more like a light switch that has to be flipped.

Okay, little poltergeist, you’ve had your fun. Move along, now.

McCain Chased Off Reservation By Pissed-Off Navajo Activists

In a stunning action that was long overdue, a group of native Navajo Americans chased Senator John McCain out of the Navajo Nation capital of Window Rock — making it perfectly clear he was unwelcome in the first place.

McCain was visiting the Nation in commemoration of Navajo Code Talker’s day, and perhaps for a moment thought he would get by listening to polite pleas from Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye and Vice-President Jonathan Nez to back a Congressional appropriation to fund the construction of a Navajo Code Talkers Museum. According to a report from Native News Online.Net, however, the Nation’s leaders chose the moment to focus on the EPA tragedy unfolding via the Gold King Mine spill into the Animas and San Juan Rivers. ...
